🚨 China just built the world's biggest fusion magnet. Fusion is how the sun makes energy. To copy it on Earth, you need gas hotter than 100 million°C. Nothing can touch that, so giant magnets hold it in place. This one weighs 582 tonnes, about as much as a fully loaded Boeing 747. It's not producing power yet, but it's a big step toward clean, almost unlimited energy. China aims to show fusion electricity around 2030.

A double pendulum is just two rods joined together, yet scientists still can't predict its motion exactly. It's a textbook case of chaos: change the starting position by a tiny fraction and the swing plays out completely differently. Simple physics, unpredictable result. 🌀 📹 via Science Magazine

He finishes breakfast, settles into the driver’s seat, and gets straight to work.

🏠 BRITAIN’S NEW HOMES: 130 DEFECTS ON AVERAGE? A new investigation has raised serious questions about the quality of Britain’s newly built homes. According to specialist inspection company HomeSnag, the average new-build property has around 130 defects. Its inspections found uneven ceilings in 70% of homes, ventilation problems in 60%, and insufficient loft insulation in half. The problem goes beyond poor workmanship. The UK’s Competition and Markets Authority has previously warned that housebuilders lack strong incentives to compete on quality, while buyers often have limited information about the homes they’re purchasing. With the government pushing to build more homes, a crucial question remains: Is Britain building houses faster than it can ensure they’re built properly? Oberlin College photography professor Pipo Nguyen-Duy (64) and his wife, Tran Thi Phong (56), were found shot dead in their Ohio home Wednesday. Their 31-year-old child, Asia Nguyen-Duy (previously known as Daniel Jones), is charged with six counts of murder, four counts of felonious assault and one count of tampering with evidence. Prosecutors say that moments after the shootings, the suspect asked a stranger to record a video in which they admitted to the killings, claimed to be "escaping a cult" and took full responsibility. At Thursday's hearing, officers carried the suspect into court and rolled them to the defense table in a chair. Bond was set at $3 million. The case now moves to county common pleas court.
