a world devoid of work is a world devoid of purpose. AI should not replace us, it should amplify our abilities and let us do more.
-AI on its own is not very good
-Humans on their own are pretty good
-Humans + AI = pretty much unlimited productivity
That's where we're going. Enough of this dystopian crap. Let's work together to build a world that we want to get old in, and that we want our children to grow up into. We can do better.

Replying to @Scobleizer @mundanebot
sending a robot up an energized line instead of a person is about the easiest sell in robotics
Mundane is building the future of human-in-the-loop robotics.
We believe telepresence is the future of work in critical environments, from power infrastructure and data centers to industrial facilities and hazardous worksites.
Our robots allow skilled workers to operate remotely, bringing human intelligence and dexterity into environments where people shouldn’t have to go.
Every hour of operation generates real-world data, laying the foundation for increasingly autonomous systems (not replacing workers, amplifying their productivity to do more).
The future of work is mundane, and it's a hell of a lot more productive
The future of work will change due to robots.
Today I visited @mundanebot in Silicon Valley which makes an industrial-strength robot for electrical line workers who need to work with very dangerous electrified lines.
What makes their work different is the haptics system they are developing.
I held a cup of water and could “feel” them fill it up.
Building a teleoperation system has an added benefit: employees of an electric company see their jobs aren’t going away and that this lets them work in a safe, comfortable, van while their robots are working on lines high above in windy or hot situations.
Makes them have super powers and makes their jobs a lot easier.
thanks for having me on the show to talk about @mundanebot
🤖 A sneak peek at what’s coming…
@GoingBallistic5 and I will be talking with @theobot__ from Mundane about what they’ve done differently in building their robots.
What should we ask Theo? Help us grill him! 😄 Drop your questions in the comments, and we might bring yours to the conversation!
it doesn't matter that the flying roadster won't be street legal
haters gonna say it's just a PR stunt
if the PR stunt inspires the next generation. makes people excited about the future. and breaks a few ground speed records.
does it really matter
literally only musk making me excited about the future
more of this please tech world
To every investor that told me I should do ego video instead of teleop to train models. I told you so
🚨🚨 ROBOT REVEAL 🚨🚨
At @mundanebot , we're building a second body for the skilled trades.
A tradesperson puts on our exoskeleton and controls a robot that works where people shouldn’t have to. We’re starting with energized electrical gear, confined spaces, and high-pressure testing, and expanding from there into the dangerous, dirty, and physically demanding work that keeps our infrastructure running.
Today the person is fully in control. Every job they run also teaches the system, so over time AI takes on more of the repetitive work, and skilled tradespeople handle the hard calls and edge cases.
This is about productivity, not replacement. There aren’t enough skilled tradespeople for the infrastructure we need to build. The ones we have deserve tools that keep them out of harm’s way and multiply what each of them can get done.
This week we brought Mundane to National Electrical and Communications Association (NECA) in Las Vegas. More than 100 tradespeople suited up and tried the robot for themselves, and we were awarded Best Booth.
We were lucky to be joined by Jake Holthaus from Written in Red, an IBEW lineworker with 15 years of experience. We’re working with Jake alongside Brady Hansen to build this technology with the trades, not just for them.
This is the future of the trades.
And this is only the start. More soon.
seamless interventions for DAgger loop training only works with force feedback, to guide your fingers (or arm) to the intervened state
Teleoperation is usually used to control robots. We present DITTO-X, a framework that works both ways:
🖐️➡️🤖 In forward teleoperation, you can control diverse dexterous hands with force and haptic feedback.
🤖➡️🖐️ In reverse teleoperation, the robot moves your hand to match its own state while an autonomous policy runs, so you can intervene fluently whenever it goes wrong.
Why does this matter? Taking over a dexterous hand mid-task is hard. Any mismatch between your hand pose and the robot state can cause an unstable grasp and make the robot drop the object. With reverse teleoperation, every takeover starts from the robot's own state, and these smooth interventions become DAgger data that make our policy more robust each round.

mundane teleop is the gold standard of teleop
see what the robot sees
your arms become the robot arms
feel what the robot feels
THIS IS BRIDGING THE EMBODIMENT GAP
Spent the afternoon at @mundanebot
Why call it that?
It is going after mundane dangerous jobs.
Things like working on electrical lines.
What they showed me is the best teleoperation system I have seen. A worker jumps into an exoskeleton and can work on a dangerous or dirty job from a safe distance. And can “feel” everything.
Haptics geniuses.
And economic thinking. Sees a market that Tesla or the 1x won’t be able to satisfy fully.
Built in USA. America isn’t cooked yet.
Soon nobody will bat an eyelid to see robots dance
instrumenting workers with bulky cameras for their replacement is the most dystopian thing to come out of this robot craze
surely we can do better as a species
1/ Better robot models come from better data.
That takes two things: hardware that captures it fully, and tooling that turns it into training signal.
We built the first. Today, @GroundedSI launches the second: Grounded API. Access both hardware + API ↓

Today we’re announcing microSLAM, the new state-of-the-art in monocular SLAM from human egocentric video, built by our Zürich-based computer vision team in collaboration with the ETHZ Computer Vision and Geometry Lab, @rohamzn and @Ace3Zi
We are nr. 1 on the LaMAria Benchmark for monocular SLAM, and one of the best SLAM systems built so far, when taking into account any amount of cameras and any amount of IMUs (with just monocular RGB)
microSLAM turns plane monocular video into fully interactive 3D environments, so called RL environments, which teach state-of-the-art behavioral foundation models to understand their surroundings, navigate across factory floors and become experts at the industrial use cases our clients care about.
These results mark a foundational step toward our goal of deploying a billion robots worldwide, bringing the value from foundational models to the physical world.
Check out the article on our website to dive deeper into microSLAM’s design and performance.
We will release the microSLAM paper and code in the near future, providing the community with a reproducible foundation to evaluate, extend, and build on this work.
excited to see the comparison with other fruit flies of the same species. and the scale up to larger organisms. this is the beginning of a really exciting time for neuroscience
For the first time, scientists have mapped the complete brain and central nervous system of an adult male fruit fly — a key model organism in science. 🪰
Working alongside HHMI Janelia Research Campus and the scientific community, @GoogleResearch scientists and researchers used AI to combine millions of 2D images into 3D neural shapes, reconstructing a record-breaking 166,000+ neurons. This foundational map of the adult male fruit fly brain can help accelerate our understanding of the brain, and is a major milestone in neuroscience.
lovely to see a robotics company actually shipping robots (not just demo videos)
Michael + team have been killing it recently. Check them out ❤️
Introducing the Yondu Work Force:
End to end fulfillment automation, live in production.
E-commerce orders flow from humanoid picking to stationary arm packing, all powered by Yondu.
We configure the right robots for each client's fulfillment needs. Every robot in the line, humanoid or stationary, integrates directly with the client's existing WMS.
This is the kind of end to end automation that is only possible when you aren't locked into one form factor.
Yondu can deliver real value for our clients by automating a single task or an entire workflow that fits how any warehouse operates
I still don’t understand what this company does but I like the smoothies @UseCorgi
