#webinale 2024 Take Aways
Sustainability
Summary:
Efficiency is the keyword. When the resources are used efficiently; it improves the UX, saves money, reduces the emission. The impact is bigger than it seems.
Sum of some:
Good code + good infrastructure = less CO₂
🧵👇
- Do NOT overkill with the dependencies as it increases the bundle -> data transfer & storage -> emission. Go vanilla when possible.
- SVG Sprite, ffmpeg video streaming and HLS video chunks are the concepts that should be considered instead of using 3rd party libs and services++
- Start measuring the performance of your code
- Cloud based solutions are better than on-premise solutions

How do the developers who tells people how to be great developers know that they are great developers?
So, have you guys resolved some of the up-to-date discussions when I wasn’t around?
- Is HTML a programming language or not?
- What is the best keyboard?
- Who has the best setup?
- React vs Angular?
- Should we use semicolons in JavaScript?
- PHP still sucks?
Why people think ‘reaching your full potential’ is something positive? What about extending your potential?
Coding makes people rich, noob, famous, tutor, master, guru, phenomenon, blogger or Youtuber... It makes me hungry.
There are so many fake or bad advices out there. Reading all of them and deciding what to do next is hard.
One advice to rule them all: Just pick any topic and learn it really well. Create a couple of projects and you will know what to learn next. #100DaysOfCode #CodeNewbie
Dealing with a messed up, badly configured, even badly maintained 20 years old mysql database? No thanks. I would prefer eating my own leg.
How you guys manage to convince your managers that you need to create an entire language to do what you need to do? That’ll keep me amazed until eternity.
Looks like there’s a new online tool devs are using for creating fancy CVs. Don’t do it. This has proven to be the most effective template:
hwpi.harvard.edu/files/ocs/f…
You need a simple CV and a fancy Github page. Stop wasting your time and money on bs. No one wants to see that.
⤵️ Let’s keep it here

If you’re in Germany, and looking for a Full Stack position, why don’t you just DM me?
Tech stack is Go, Vue, TypeScript, PostgreSQL. Just a link to your GitHub page should be sufficient. Enthusiasm is more important than your CV. All levels are welcome. #hiring #HIRINGNOW
I have been dealing with some extremely bad legacy code for a while and struggling with describing the code more than working on it. Apparently, Big Ball of Mud is the right term:

Tech Twitter shouldn’t be seen before sleeping. I see something crazy and can’t wait to try it until morning.
