"If you want to be a professional engineer, I still recommend you do the hard way for the first year, at least six months." - @TheDumbTechGuy at The Tech Wrap-Up:2025.close()
With AI changing how we build, do you still agree?
Let's talk. 👇
They say reflection is key to growth. As the year ends, we look back to learn, improve, and plan what’s next.

This year, we’re making it bigger and better. Watch out 👀

We can’t wait🎉🔥
Your group chat has been arguing about 2026 since January.
Who raised. Who shut down. Government Tech Initiatives.
Come finish the argument in person.
@thetechwrapup is back. Last December, we filled a room with builders, founders, and people who just love this ecosystem. Strangers left as friends. Hot takes left as debates. Nobody left on time.
This year, bring the year you had. The wins, the L’s, the lesson you only learned the hard way. And bring the friend who keeps saying “next time.”

Commercial banks in Ghana will begin collecting a 20% tax on qualifying cross-border digital services from October 15, 2026, affecting subscriptions to platforms such as Netflix, Spotify, ChatGPT, Microsoft 365 and Adobe where the applicable taxes are not already included.
The measure follows directives from the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and applies to qualifying digital transactions made with Ghana-issued bank cards.
The 20% comprises 15% Value Added Tax (VAT), a 2.5% National Health Insurance Levy (NHIL) and a 2.5% GETFund Levy.
The arrangement does not introduce a new tax but changes how existing taxes are collected, with participating banks and payment providers responsible for collecting and remitting the applicable amounts to the GRA.
The measure could also affect businesses paying for cloud computing, digital advertising, online learning, and other qualifying digital services.

Ghana’s One Million Coders Programme is under review following concerns raised by trainees about internet connectivity and access to Wi-Fi at a community training centre in Kumasi.
In a video published by @The1957News , a trainee is heard raising concerns about Wi-Fi connectivity and access to the network password during Communications Minister Samuel Nartey George’s visit to the Kumasi Regional Digital Centre.
The exchange captures a discussion about internet access at the centre, with questions raised about the reliability of the connection and whether trainees need to rely on their own data bundles to participate in training.
The concerns come as the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations engages programme beneficiaries to identify challenges affecting implementation.
According to TechAfrica News, beneficiaries at the Asawase Community Information Centre in the Ashanti Region raised similar concerns during the minister’s monitoring visit on October 12. These included inadequate internet connectivity, limited technical support and equipment for practical training, and the need for hybrid learning options.
The ministry has said feedback from beneficiaries will help identify gaps and guide improvements to the programme.

Your internship might be wasting your time.
Not every internship deserves to go on your CV.
If you're not learning a skill, building something, or getting closer to the kind of work you want to do, why are you still there?

A man claims an AI agent hacked his account and caused $500 in damage.
So we're asking:
When an AI agent acts outside your instructions and causes real financial damage, who pays?
The AI?
The company that built it?
Or the person who gave it access?
