I knew UMG was in the building when I started seeing pew pews and paraphernalia openly praised in Kenyan music and videos. They are culture shapers 🤔
Whoever owns the cognitive map owns the future. The mixed bag of postmodernism, determinism and ideology is something else.

The wave of pushback against Lula's win bears lots of lessons.
There's quarters that will label good leaders as "bad for investors" or "fiscally unrealistic." They believe that countries are built for investors and not for the dignity of their people. Be ready for them!
The entire Financial Times editorial board has published a piece urging Lula to cut government spending and appoint a finance minister who enjoys the confidence of investors.
I get the impression that the FT editorial board has never opened an economics book other than some outdated introductory macroeconomics textbook, perhaps something by Mankiw. Otherwise, it's hard to explain such astonishing arrogance and economic ignorance.
Lula and the Brazilian people have absolutely no reason to bow to the demands of financial markets. Brazil is Latin America's largest economy, a major regional power, and a country with a high degree of monetary sovereignty. Around 97% of the central government's debt is denominated in its own currency, the Brazilian real.
The relationship between the state and financial markets is therefore nothing like the FT portrays it. Brazil is not dependent on financial markets. On the contrary, financial markets depend on government spending, which creates financial assets for the private sector, while government debt denominated in the national currency is one of the instruments through which those assets are held.
What Brazil needs is not capitulation to financial markets, but an independent economic policy focused on expanding production, creating jobs, and improving people's living standards.
Armed with the insights of heterodox economic theory, Brazil has the potential to show the world what a genuine economic miracle looks like. ft.com/content/79785581-88c2…

I passed my viva. 🎓
My MA dissertation, "The Political Economy of Article 6 and Climate Finance in Kenya and South Africa", examined how the countries least responsible for the climate crisis are paying for adaptation and transition through debt, while the Paris Agreement’s equity framework remains intact.
My research traced this transformation across two distinct frontiers: the territorial reconfiguration of community land and governance under Article 6 expansion in Kenya, and the financialised Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) in South Africa, where allocated grants made up a mere 5%.
Five diagnostic questions cut through the entire study: Who pays? Who decides? Who benefits? Whose knowledge counts? Who bears the harm?
Earning my Master of Arts in International Relations, Security and Strategy marks a deliberate evolution: moving from 20 years of climate storytelling to joining the table as a peer in the rooms where global climate finance is designed.
See you at COP31.

Transgender women in women's bathroom discourse in a country where we see people walking 10-20kms one way everyday to work to get paid 700 shillings a day to work for 12 hour shifts? Are you guys serious, are you guys really hearing yourselves?

Women, Jannet mbugua @ivymuthe et al, you can't claim to be fighting for women's right to choose while also dictating how women should use that freedom. Mercy Masika is a pastor, a gospel musician. We've known her as that since she was 16. What did you want her to hold a masterclass on? Some women just want to be wives and that's ok!!
