Now out - we show that PV and SOM inhibitory interneurons contribute synergistically to generate cortical oscillations at various frequencies (from gamma down to beta/alpha) and control network stability... cell.com/cell-reports/fullte… - with Farzin Tahvili and Matteo Di Volo - 1/3

Excited to share that the latest @perpl_lab paper is published in @CellReports. We describe the dynamics of superficial and deep CA1 pyramidal cells and identified putative groups of inhibitory cells in freely moving, thinking, and sleeping macaques. 1/n

Led by Satoka Fujimoto and with @RussBEneuro and @HelenMaybergMD our first paper on the effects of deep brain stimulation in the brain. What’s exciting is that we find it induces white matter remodeling in specific tracts. @SinaiBrain biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

New preprint with @cjahn_neuro on how the brain learns to control attention in a changing environment! We find attention is learned incrementally from reward feedback, and it maps stimuli into a generalized space that can guide decisions in many settings. biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

Tell me if you’ve heard this before: hippocampal theta+gamma oscillations for learning/recall, not for offline/NREM sleep? In 🐭 yes, but our paper out now shows that in 🐒 CA1, beta2/gamma rules exploration but theta 🙀 dominates rest/early NREM sleep!
Excited to share that the latest @perpl_lab paper is now published in @eLife!
We characterized oscillatory dynamics of hippocampal CA1 in stationary and freely-behaving macaques during task engagement and rest/sleep.
