The Arrangement
Part Three
I entrusted Theo with managing the tense situation among the men in the office, ensuring he understood the gravity of maintaining control. As I was about to walk away from Theo, he suddenly grabbed my waist with firm yet gentle fingers, pressed me against his broad chest, and whispered in my ear, “I'd better text him if I need him. He will inform Lorenzo.” Theo then softly kissed my neck, tracing along my collarbone with deliberate tenderness, and finally pressed his lips to my wrist. In a hushed tone, he whispered, “Ti amo, Abigail. Non dimenticare che sei il mio cuore e ucciderò qualcuno per il mio cuore.” I rose onto my tiptoes, returned Theo's deep, meaningful kiss with both hands on his face, then carefully removed my delicate engagement and wedding rings, along with the bracelets he had given me, their cold metal familiar in my hand. “Hold these. I will come back for them,” I said quietly. He chuckled softly, a reassuring sound, then nodded at Jesse to follow us. Alex, Lorenzo’s trusted bodyguard from the family’s security detail, was always alert, his sharp eyes evident even in the dim light. Dante was waiting for us inside the cave, the walls damp and earthy, the faint scent of moss and stale water lingering in the air. Gabby and I wore old, worn jeans and loose shirts, prepared for concealment and stealth. The music echoed softly through the narrow, rocky passage, creating a tense, almost ritualistic atmosphere. Inside, he was hanging upside down from the ceiling by sturdy, thick ropes, blood rushing to his battered face, which was swollen from the recent fight. I pushed him firmly to rouse him, my voice low but fierce. “You know you fucked with the wrong Mastroddi,” I said with intensity, towering over him.
He realized he had crossed a dangerous line. “What hand did you use to touch my sister’s ass?” I saw his Adam's apple bob as he struggled to swallow, his face flushing, eyes darting with fear. I turned to Dante, subtly signaling him to intervene, knowing his head was clouded by adrenaline and bloodlust. “You're Abigail Mastroddi, the Capo Dei Capi,” I said, my tone unyielding as Dante stepped forward, guiding him to stand before me. Jesse was nearby, quiet and observant, adhering to my husband's strict orders to stay close for protection. “It’s a pleasure. But you still haven't answered my question: which hand did you use to touch my sister’s ass? She already told you three times,” I pressed, my voice steady. He hesitated, caught off guard, eyes flickering with panic, while Gabby smirked knowingly behind me. “Just cut his damn balls off and call it a day,” I joked, glancing at my sister, who genuinely enjoyed playing the villain with a wicked smile.
She understood I liked to intimidate someone into submission through fear. The man looked at me with wide, trembling eyes. “Please don't kill me,” he begged desperately. Jesse, ever calm, stepped forward slowly and approached me. “Abby, he worked for the sperm donor,” he said quietly, his voice measured. Jesse then gently placed a reassuring hand on the back of the man’s neck, as if to coax compliance. “I think Theo will find him useful for what we need,” Jesse added with a subtle nod. I recognized Jesse's reasoning and nodded in agreement, silently consenting to let him take the man away. “Shoot him before he goes upstairs,” Jesse commanded. Without hesitation, Jesse pulled out a pistol and shot him in the kneecap, the deafening crack shattering his kneecap and leaving him unable to escape or run. Gabby sat silently next to me, her face tense with frustration. “Damn, we can hear him screaming from upstairs,” she said grimly. I shook my head slowly, both of us understanding that the days of the sperm donor’s reign of terror were coming to an end and that justice was imminent. >
