ep17-18, after a fight that leaves wataru half-alive he begins to have an identity crisis
kiva symbolizes his mother's expectations, the violin is his father's, and together they both drive wataru to become fight
so the question becomes: is he fighting just to please his parents?
and now we have direct parallels! jiro represents yuri's quest for vengeance, he is her past and all the hurt that comes with it
i like the use of the love triangle as a metaphor for yuri's heroism and selfishness battling it out

the role of jiro is important to this storyline since he lost his entire race to genocide and wants revenge on the fangires. we see why he is drawn to yuri, they're both survivors

screams forever about legacy in kiva and the legacies these children bear and also the way yuri's fucking family are dedicated fangire hunters..

Thank you to all the staff and special guests for making the Kamen Rider experience at LA Comic Con a great one!

With the Adidas x Jeremy Scott Totem Pole track jacket, you too, can be Kamen Rider screenwriter, Yuya Takahashi.
Impeccable choice.
this explains why shima is so hesitant to give ixa to megumi, he is already witnessing history repeat itself. he doesn't want megumi to meet the same fate as her mother
episode 11-12 has ixa represent vengeance and grief
Yuri's life mission is to avenge her mother's death using ixa
in the future we know yuri is dead and megumi inherits ixa. She inherits her mother's legacy. She inherits her grief
the way nago speaks can be read three ways
-his god complex
-he's parroting his abusive father
-and the most fascinating interpretation: God is the abusive father
another youth milestone! wataru makes his first friend and gains confidence in himself and his choices!! he's such a great protagonist bc you can't help but root for him!

wataru is very childlike and even in the first episode his acclimation to the real world is like a baby being born and with each episode (okay lbr, with each TRAGEDY) he becomes more mature
