Being active on X is weird.
I’ve hardly been posting.
- I’ve been trying to get less screen time.
- My posts have been random.
- Work is getting interesting.
- Gym is getting interesting.
- New side hustle idea.
- Cooking lots
Things are getting busy.
Feeling like I need time to think. Resulting in less time on X.
And then, I feel like I’m not showing up for all the cool people on X I’ve met since I started.
Achieving balance is a bitch sometimes.
Total respect for those doing it with kids.
Anyway, that’s my slightly longer post.
I’m at that stage in life where you realize meal prepping by breaking down the chicken saves so much money compared to just buying chicken breast or thigh
I’m going to start writing longer form content again; short posts on X aren’t really doing it for me these days
It’s been a busy week.
Workshops and context switching, while accumulating a backlog of things I’d say I’ll do tomorrow.
Confession:
I rate Lanterns on HBO.
I think it’s a great show.
One episode away from finale.
I’ll be sad when it’s over
Being shit at something does not absolve you of that responsibility
Just fucking learn things
Please
I have been finding a lot of really dumb high impact stuff in the codebase at work.
Two things happened the week before:
- I too a week off work
- opus 5.5 hit
My newest kick is evidently analytics and observability.
I no longer trust metrics, and need to audit everything
Opus 5.5 is.. really good.
Or maybe I’m really good after a week off
Just found a juicy stupid bug in my codebase.
Had an intuition about some metrics we thought we were getting. I looked into it, and instead of measuring signups, it was effectively for how many users go back to the welcome page.
This last week of model updates after talking about slowing down is.. perplexing.
Why would they push better, cheaper models now?
Is this what a slow down looks like?
You have two hypothetical choices:
Option A)
- Quick to market
- Cheap to produce
- Not authentic
- people will vaguely understand what they are buying
Option B)
- Upfront cost: equipment + skills/hire
- Takes time
- Authentic
- people will know immediately what to expect
I feel like option B is the obvious one.
Yet I’m seeing more and more AI food.
For good restaurants too. It blows my mind.
Would you order off a menu where all the food was hand drawn?
My week off was tremendous
My bench is back to 100kg for working sets, which is nice to see after a difficult year.
I’m still tapering down screen time, and that includes X.
The new Queen Elizabeth II garden in regents park has some great benches, would recommend
What is going on in a small business owners mind when they use generative AI for pictures of their food?
It signals that they don’t like how their food looks.
It signals low effort.
