Rhetoric & Writing colleagues: I made a website that tracks new books in the field: rhetorlist.net
I've too often missed the announcement for a great new book, only to find it months (or years!) later. Rhetorlist tries to solve that problem. I hope it's useful. (1/4)

In my 1999 dissertation, titled Writing Networks, I argued that writing technologies teach students things that conflict with writing teachers' pedagogy. Technologies have pedagogy too. This is why it's important for folks in our field to *make* them not just use them.

Alex Borowitz, a former student in my Digital Writing & Rhetoric course, has a video in the new issue of @TheJUMPPlus. His short piece is a beautiful depiction of writing spaces and process, & the best part of my job is seeing students do work like this: jumpplus.net/issues/issue-8-…
Also: The site has syndication support (via JSON Feed), so you can subscribe to updates with an RSS reader like Feedbin or Feedly. And the data is sortable & filterable (in desktop-size browsers), so you can search a column for keywords or filter for specific presses. (3/4)
NPR has a text-only website for storm-affected people with limited connectivity. It's a great idea: text.npr.org
But it also makes me nostalgic for a simpler, less ad-infected web.
