Today we’re opening applications for the sixth cohort of @firstround’s PMF Method, happening in Sonoma from 9/27 - 9/30. This intensive, four-day retreat has helped over 100 founders take a straighter path to PMF. We take 0% equity in your company. No accelerator fine print. PMF Method gave @jgreze the yardstick to see how his company was doing against both the different levels of PMF and his peers. His business was working but he threw it all away to pivot @TownAI into a bigger market. The company has now raised over $70M from a16z and First Round. @annembrandes had the idea for @conwayinc but learned new ways to pressure test it, along with enterprise sales frameworks she still uses today. She raised a seed from First Round and Kleiner Perkins, and now has millions in revenue. And @pk_iv founded @browserbase and had early traction, but got the benchmark data he couldn’t find elsewhere to make sure the company was on the right track. The company has raised $67M from CRV, Kleiner Perkins and Notable Capital. These three founders join PMF Method alumni — senior leaders from Anthropic, SpaceX, Stripe, Rippling and more — who’ve raised over $750M in the last 18 months. There are many paths to PMF. Few of them are a straight line. But one program can help increase your odds of finding PMF faster. Apply below:

Every road, bridge, and fiber line starts with a survey. Until recently, someone had to trace each curb, sign, and wire by hand. @Mach9Geo is AI CAD software for civil engineering that makes that 10x faster. Congrats @alexbaikovitz & team! >100k miles surveyed, millions to go.
Most of America's infrastructure was built in a single generation — and designed to last fifty years. That was seventy years ago. There has never been more to build and rebuild, and fewer surveyors every year to map what's already there. Today we’re announcing our $34M Series A to bring civil engineering into the AI era, co-led by @firstround and @BessemerVP, with participation from @Prudence_VC and @QuietCapital. Our AI CAD software turns 3D scans of roads, utilities and construction sites into draft drawings for surveyors and engineers at centimeter accuracy. Expanding the world’s capacity to build and maintain the infrastructure people depend on.

A lot of this week's datacenter news comes back to one date: when the power turns on. But for operators who already have power, there’s a second date that matters just as much: the day the GPUs are online and actually usable. The industry norm from racked servers to a production-ready cluster is weeks, and until then, those GPUs aren't earning. We do it within 48 hours. The only requirement? Hardware is racked. We handle the rest: Bare metal provisioning, GPU orchestration, CPUs, networking, and storage. From there we build the architecture the tenant needs, whether that's Kubernetes, Slurm, VMs, or storage, and hand it over production-ready. Power decides when you can build. The cluster decides when you can earn.

The biggest bottleneck at work is waiting on each other. Today Town is announcing its $108M Series B, co-led by Forerunner Ventures and Menlo Ventures, to fix it with multiplayer AI assistants for work. Most AI assistants are built for one person. Work doesn't happen alone. I think the moat is multiplayer. Everyone at a company gets a Townie. Townies ask each other questions, share only what their person would share, and do the work. The more a team works together, the more useful Townies get. What's the thing you're always waiting on a teammate for?

Excited to announce that we've raised a $108M Series B, co-led by Forerunner and Menlo, with a16z, First Round, and some incredible angels at a 1bn valuation. But the real story is this: AI made each of us faster, and the work we do together never kept up. So we taught Townies to work together. It's the most magical product experience I've had since... the first day I handed my inbox keys over to my Townie ;) town.com/operate-at-the-spee…

Wow...@endurancegeo put a power plant on an undersea volcano nearly a mile below the Pacific and generated net-positive electricity. It’s the first end-to-end demo of subsea geothermal power. Andrew Redd has built a killer team with enormous ambition, and they’re backing it up with real (and incredibly fast) technical progress. We’ve been lucky @firstround to partner with this team since the pre-seed and less than 2 years later, they’re generating power on the ocean floor. This awesome video gives you a sense of the work it took to get here.
Endurance is on a historic run. During our mission to the Axial Seamount, we successfully drilled the world’s first subsea geothermal well and generated net-positive power a mile beneath the Pacific. This mission was the first end-to-end test of subsea geothermal, and our fifth deep-sea deployment in just over a year. For three weeks, we worked around the clock over an active underwater volcano, running the drill and generator and handling every deployment and recovery. Along the way, we: - Landed our drill within feet of target, drilled two holes, and cased and completed the second as a geothermal well, flowing at 260°C. - Landed Adélie, our 3-ton test plant, and ran it in real time from Seattle over subsea fiber. - Drilled with filtered seawater, not drilling mud, and monitored the site on every dive. - Recovered, serviced, and redeployed Adélie in about 16 hours. - And on Sept. 27, connected to a 281°C natural vent, spun the turbine up to 26,000 rpm and ran the plant net positive for 8.7 seconds, peaking at 16.5 kW. Net power is the threshold every new energy source has to cross. For Endurance, it proves subsea geothermal is real, and gives us the confidence to keep sprinting towards commercial scale. With a test like this, success comes from what we learn: a battery protection trip ended the run, a pump cable failed on restart, and the new well was too restrictive to run the plant. Those lessons go straight into Gentoo, our next test plant, this winter and Leopard, our 2 MW commercial generator. We’re incredibly proud of what we accomplished together. It took creativity, precision, an uncompromising focus on safety from everyone on board, and it’s only the beginning of what we’re capable of. We couldn’t have done it without Stabbert Maritime and the crew of the Ocean Guardian, the ROPOS team, the University of Washington, WASSOC, and the National Science Foundation.

I first got access to the alpha version of @TownAI at the start of the year, and it’s almost hard to count all of the new AI assistants that have launched since then. Most of them are free and built for your personal life. Town is intentionally built for work. The team isn’t focused on helping you plan a trip or book a restaurant reservation (although you can definitely do those things with Town). Instead they’re obsessed with the everyday work that truly makes you and your team faster. Several interesting product decisions have flowed from that: - You need multiplayer mode to truly be effective. AI has made each of us faster on our own, but the work we do together hasn’t kept up. Town is doing some of the most interesting work on multi-player collaboration (with humans as well as other agents) IMO. You can CC your Townie on an email or add them to a group text to let other people work with it directly. Your Townie can also reach out to your teammates’ Townie to help get you unblocked. - You are not the product. Town has been a paid product from Day 1, and none of your context is used to train a model. The team believes your business’ own data is your asset, not something for a 3rd party to monetize. - Your life is easier when AI figures you out, not the other way around. You don’t need to hack anything together or figure out what to ask Town. In addition to making proactive suggestions and picking up on your style, projects, etc., Town also picks the right model for each job behind the scenes, so you’re never locked into one provider. And the team keeps shipping. You can now talk to your Townie live, have it build decks, and make purchases and manage passwords through new partnerships with Stripe Link and 1Password, with tons more to come. I’m a bit biased after working with @jgreze and @tonydevincenzi at Dropbox and backing them from the very beginning, but I love their relentless focus on making you more effective at work, and I’m excited to see them put their $108M Series B (led by @ForerunnerVC and @MenloVentures) to work as the agent wars continue to heat up. Forbes put Town on its first Agentic 20 list, alongside OpenAI, Meta, Stripe and a bunch of other great teams building AI agents. There’s so much work in everyone’s day that isn’t particularly hard. You just have to remember to do it. Following up with someone, scheduling the meeting, finding something buried in your email, keeping track of all the little things that otherwise fall through the cracks. I want Townies (your AI assistants) to increasingly take care of that stuff for you. The less time you spend telling an assistant what to do, the better. We have a lot left to build, but it’s very cool to see Town included here. Thanks to @annatonger and @Forbes for the write-up, and thanks to everyone using Town.

Your Townie can now shop for you. Ask for what you need. They find it, fill the cart, and get checkout ready with @link, built by @Stripe. You approve the charge, and Link pays with a one-time card. Your Townie and the merchant never get your payment information and nothing gets purchased until you approve the spend.

Rare to see an internal tool go from 4 uses to 158 the week it launches. @useactively built AI FDE, a Slack agent with access to their whole codebase and every database. It fields 70%+ of customer escalations and cut first-response time in half. When it gets something wrong, they ask it to write a code change to itself. More here 👇
I wrote about building an AI Forward Deployed Engineer to automate myself out of customer loops as much as possible. I think building custom agents that understand the nuances of your business will be a huge focus over the next few years. Read below:
