Thanks everyone at @AshokaUniv for inviting me to your seminar. Great feedback and discussion!
If you're interested in gender differentials in job search, check also the great work by @kanmahajan and co-authors: "Words matter!"
Imp to note that gendered outcomes can happen even with egalitarian gender norms. Norms matter & must be made gender egalitarian, but a narrow focus on norms can't explain why gender gaps are ubiquitous. This is @rolandrathelot's paper on #Sweden.

Does working while in school smooth students' transition into the labor market? To find some answers, read our paper forthcoming in the AEJ applied economics:
Forthcoming in AEJ: Applied Economics: "The Effects of Working while in School: Evidence from Employment Lotteries" by Thomas Le Barbanchon, Diego Ubfal, and Federico Araya. aeaweb.org/articles?id=10.12…
4/ Over the two years following the program, the enrollment rate of treated youth is 4 percentage points higher than in the control group. Working while in school does not crowd out future school investment, but we find some evidence for crowding in instead.
