The Trudeau govt has always been sweet on the CCP. Joly was a weak appointment, another data point in our declining world stature. But explicitly adopting the CCP's Taiwan policy? After Michaels, Uighurs, HK, SCS & aggression against India? Fire Joly and whoever advised this.
Our new Foreign Affairs Minister needs to make it clear that Canada does not have an all capitalized "One China Policy" - rather, Canada takes note of the position of the People's Republic of China. An important distinction #cdnpoli ctvnews.ca/canada/feds-stay-…

This was a really bad episode of the @nytimes Daily, and I say that as someone who has taken the mRNA vaccine and is not a promoter of conspiracies. It's loaded with certainties and unqualified opinions passed off as facts when only skepticism should exist.
I went on the Daily to talk ivermectin with @kevinroose!!! Hear how Joe Rogan, Ron Johnson and pandemic desperation helped create a run on an unproven drug nyti.ms/3B9ICPM

Hey @GoPro, here is an idea for you. NFT minting straight from the camera. If @nba_topshot is capturing moments; I think extreme sports moments are for more rare and exciting. Imagine "GoPro Mint" & the drops your extreme sport athletes could do there to connect with their fans!

Isn’t it great we live in a world where Cardi B’s WAP can be a number one hit song while 80 year old children’s books are being canceled? We’ve finally got our priorities in order, haven’t we?

1/ When Steve Ballmer joined Microsoft in 1980, he was employee #30 and received ZERO equity. By its IPO in 1986, he owned 8% of the Microsoft, which makes up the majority of his $80B fortune today. How did Ballmer get that stake, though? A contract quirk. Here's the story🧵

So I've followed DFV's $GME journey from beginning and think it says a lot about what's going on here. How do u go from $50k to $40ml deep value screening in about a year which btw beats $nflx and $amzn growth return holding for decades? A thread... wsj.com/articles/keith-gill-…

The only two ways to coordinate human societies at scale are free markets and physical power. Any ideology rejecting free markets is just advocating for power. Socialism, communism, and fascism all converge to the same endpoint - rule by the biggest thug.

Will those who support rapid re-opening and "back to normal" also support unwinding Fed balance sheet at the same rapid pace? Asking for a friend.

China is a dictatorship that, for decades, enforced a one child per family policy under penalty of forced sterilization. But they can't close down the farmer's market from hell? #CoronaVirus #WetMarkets

This comment from an anonymous FT reader offers a succinct and simplifying framework for how to think about C-19 and the government's response to it.

Disagree with this. HY companies are at risk of failure because they load up their balance sheet with boatload of debt (to fund share buybacks to juice up executive compensation via option grants) while entering COVID19 crisis.
Replying to @R_Perli
Fourth, on moral hazard: HY companies are at risk of failure because of #COVID19, which hits everyone the same, HY or not. A health crisis is not the time to send a message about risk taking, when such message wasn’t sent even in 2008, when behavior was much more outrageous. /6

Canada has followed WHO's advice on travel and masks with poor results. Common sense and the Taiwanese experience should be proof enough that masks will benefit the population now that there is clear evidence of community transmission. #Cdnpoli #COVID19 nationalpost.com/opinion/chr…

I’m angry that I have to write about the airline industry bail-out. But the raccoons are looking to get their losses socialized and their gains locked in. Bailout the airlines and rank-and-file employees? You bet. Bailout Buffett and the CEOs? No way. epsilontheory.com/do-the-rig…

Confirmed cases in Ontario now 142, up 38% from yesterday. Median incubation at ~5 days, mild onset of symptoms for many=delayed testing. 72hr turnaround time for tests means confirmed cases today have been contagious at least a week and more likely 10+ days

Cuomo announced confirmed CV-19 cases in NYS now 729, up 80% from yesterday. Of these, 137 have been hospitalized. That’s 18% of confirmed cases. We need to shut down all non-essential public-facing businesses now. We need to shut down domestic air and train travel now.
There aren't enough ICU hospital beds or ventilators to handle the number of severe coronavirus cases expected to hit NY, Cuomo warned today. “In my opinion, which is not science-based, you will not be able to flatten the curve to avoid the wave," he said nydailynews.com/coronavirus/…

Half of my followers will ignore this because it's a 6 minute video. A third of my followers will ignore this because it's Maddow. But I'm going to keep RT'ing this until you all watch it. This is how we save the healthcare system and avoid becoming Italy.
