For years I've worked hard to explain the perils of over testing to patients/public. I'm going to stop now.
The allure of 'more data' in the tech era is psychologically irresistible to people. No explanation of base rates and false positives can durably compete with this.

I was today old when I learnt that Charlie Pickering took it upon himself to be interviewed by Avi Yemini. One week after he took the job of Melbourne Drive radio host on ABC.
As life choices go, Mr Pickering has certainly misjudged his audience, his community and his luck.

Around 1/5 people are disabled, so this number the abc is using as ‘scary number, must slash’ is a very small fraction of the amount of disabled people there are in this country

A shout out to Australians. If you have some spare time & an electric or hybrid car, please consider volunteering with Meals on Wheels. MOW depends on volunteers who use their own cars to deliver meals. The fuel crisis is going to hit MOW hard. Contact your local MOW directly

This sadly is bad news for FV victims. But it won’t stop here due to the global events causing widespread contraction. Money has been sloshing around and government will be tightening the purse strings.
For practitioners dependent on government entirely, I’d be extremely cautious.

I hope no one needs an MRI this year.
The world's largest producer of liquified helium is in Qatar and is shut off. We just got a notice that our supply for the year will be at least cut in half.
No one could have predicted this (unless they thought about it).

Kids dont get 72 vaccines. They get 72 doses of 19 vaccines.
We have 19 vaccines because their are 19 diseases that we can prevent with vaccine administration.
The question is why would we NOT give children the best chance at survival?

Note the many lawyers who oppose a #Bondi royal commission are not being quoted in the media. Only the courageous Robert Richter.
