Ikigai and Bittensor - a point of view I have been thinking about Ikigai lately and how surprisingly well it maps onto #Bittensor and $TAO I know the Ikigai concept from my professional career and it’s often visualized as the intersection of four things: 1. What you love 2. What you are good at 3. What the world needs 4. What you can be rewarded for Your “reason for being” sits somewhere in the middle and I think Bittensor subnets are going through a similar discovery process. In the early dTAO days, simply building something was often enough. Launch a subnet. Create an incentive mechanism (IM). Attract miners and validators. Get emissions. Simple. But as we mature, I think that is changing and the ones adapting, are the ones surviving. The subnets that ultimately matter, will find their own version of Ikigai. Recognising subnets that may have found their Ikigai, is a way to value subnets, incremental to just on-chain metrics and GitHubs. Let me talk you through an example that comes to mind: 1. What you love → Founder conviction The best teams probably will not be the ones chasing whatever narrative currently attracts emissions. The best teams are obsessed with the problem they want to be solving. Models. Inference, Math. Agents. Data. Compute. Whatever it is. That obsession matters because building something genuinely differentiated takes months and/or years, with true passion. 2. What you are good at → Competitive advantage Passion alone obviously is not enough. A subnet needs to produce something better, cheaper, faster or fundamentally different. Your competitive advantage has to survive competition, in and outside Bittensor. 3. What the world needs → Product-market fit This might be the biggest filter and qualification. Does anyone actually need what the subnet produces? Not validators, not alpha/tao holders, but actual users. A subnet can have a beautiful incentive design, beating any SOTA benchmarks, run sophisticated ML loops, and maintain a passionate community, but if nobody ultimately wants the output, what exactly are we incentivizing? 4. What you can be rewarded for → Sustainable economics And finally, economics. Bittensor adds something unusual to the Ikigai framework. The network itself can bootstrap the search. Emissions provide economic energy to miners, validators and builders before traditional product-market fit necessarily exists or is proven. But I don’t think emissions are the destination. They are the runway to profitability at scale. This is something that we truly should learn from corporates: profits at scale. Over time, the strongest subnets should increasingly be able to demonstrate why the intelligence they produce have economic value. And this is where I think the concept of Ikigai and Bittensor gets very interesting. Because these four circles don’t automatically overlap. You can have great technology nobody needs. Huge emissions without meaningful output. Strong demand but weak incentive design. Or passionate founders without a real competitive advantage. The market/staker responsibility is ultimately to figure out which subnets sit closest to the middle. And perhaps that is what Bittensor itself is becoming: A giant decentralized search for the Ikigai of machine intelligence. Thousands of people allocating capital, compute and intelligence toward different hypotheses about what AI should produce. Most will probably fail. Some will find temporary economic games. But a few may find that rare intersection where: they love building it, they are uniquely good at it, the world actually needs it, and the economics sustainably reward it. Those are the subnets I want to find. Finding the Ikigai in Bittensor.

coding agents were the first agents to really make an impact. company agents are now on the horizon, and they come with some different requirements and primitives: * ux - agents live where you work (slack) * identity - agents can act obo the user or with a fixed identity * memory - agents remember preferences, feedback across sessions * sandboxes - agents can write code in a secure way * schedules - agent runs can be scheduled (by users and by agents)

Lmao
De pitch van de @VVD (@QueenyRaj) om miljardenbedrijven naar Nederland te halen: “Kom hiernaartoe, dan kunnen we jullie belasten en precies vertellen wat jullie wel en niet met AI mogen doen!” Totaal absurd. Geen deepfake. We worden geregeerd door clowns.

We have just repurchased and burned 1,772 TAO (~$445K) of SN4 alpha using organic revenues generated via Targon.com We have also burned an additional 6,678 TAO (~$1.7M) worth of SN4 alpha, which also represents revenue generated via Targon

imho, now is the time to stake to: 1. Subnets with quality builders and insane work ethic 2. Subnets discounted by the recent sell-offs for no apparent reason 3. Subnet that have ADR below or around < 1.0 The ones with above mix are chef's kiss #Bittensor

These are real life products that will be the most tangible form of bringing Bittensor to the mass
Your customers talk to you on WhatsApp. Your other tools can't see a word of it. So you're the glue. You copy the message into the quote, the photos into the job notes, the dates into Slack, and you're still the one everyone has to ask. Connect WhatsApp to Ditto once. Its chats come into Ditto's memory, photos included, alongside your Slack and Notion. Ask where the bathroom job stands and Ditto answers from all three. So does Claude. Connect WhatsApp at heyditto.ai

There are some incredibly undervalued subnets out there, following the massive subnet sell-offs. Buy when there is blood on the street. Especially when they are related to machine learning with real concepts and ADR close to 1.0…. #Bittensor #subnets

AI might end up forcing companies to stop running on tribal knowledge. Agents can’t work around the stuff humans somehow do: decisions trapped in meetings, priorities living in someone’s head, weird exceptions everyone knows but nobody wrote down. @AnthropicAI is already bumping into this. They have roughly 6 agent-hr running for every human employee-hr, yet those agents still spend most of their interactive time waiting on people. Employees are building standing instructions, monitors, agent reviewers, even agent chiefs of staff just to keep the machine layer synced with what the company is actually doing. As agent labor grows, more of the company has to become explicit, structured and machine-readable just to keep everyone pointed at the same reality. That could reshape management pretty hard in the coming years. Clear ownership, clean state, written decisions, fewer invisible handoffs. The org itself starts getting optimized for machine coworkers.

Here is your “arc” pattern for subnets, which majority run through. What I am looking for from these teams: 1. Continue building 2. Continue marketing 3. Have a business model that makes sense (I.e., path to positive unit economics) 4. Commit to alpha buy backs @heydittoai

I believe the next shift in how we evaluate #Bittensor subnets will be unit economics, instead of revenue Revenue is great, but means little if heavily subsidized by emissions The real question is if subnets have a path to profitability and scalability

Ditto's commitment: 50% of profits buy back the Ditto alpha token. Then we burn it. Build, sell, buy back, burn, repeat. Every seat, every business build and every partner deal adds to the profits that feed it. As revenue grows, the buybacks grow with it, and burned supply never comes back. That's the Ditto flywheel. Peyton made the commitment on stage at @ExploitSummit, watch the full presentation 👉 stream.vidaio.io/vod.html?ta…

Ditto's first business client runs on WhatsApp. So we built WhatsApp into Ditto for their custom build. Their build stays theirs, and WhatsApp is now live in the Ditto app for everyone.

Gamma will be very bullish for #Bittensor: - bullish for subnets that provide commodities that other subnets can use (eg inference, compute) - bullish for subnets that build Bittensor native products, leveraging and using the best of subnets There are some incredibly undervalued subnets at the moment, following above two points Next weeks/months are going to be very exciting

And we’re only just getting started. Real enterprise adoption less than 2 weeks after V2, and the product pipeline is moving crazy fast: > Auto mode > Zero-knowledge encryption > Ditto Review (automated PR / code triage) > Ditto Code & multi-agent workflows Shipping season never stopped. Keep watching!
FIRST BUSINESS CLIENT Less than two weeks after V2 launched, Ditto has its first business client! A multi-six-figure company, and the first custom build Ditto is doing. Like a lot of growing businesses, they run on a mix of apps that don't talk to each other, and every question still ends with a call to the owner. Ditto becomes the one place it all runs through. Agents take over the day-to-day work, and every member of staff gets what they need from the Ditto mobile app, under their own permissions. Know a business that runs like this? Our partner program opens soon, and partners earn commission on every client they bring to Ditto. Our business development team is already on it. Revenue is our focus now, because it's what fuels our buyback and burn program.

Good post - people still sleeping on Bittensor products such as @heydittoai that will bring outside capital from the “world” into the ecosystem. Those Bittensor products will leverage all Bittensor subnets and their intra subnet services to do that.
youtu.be/7mQ63nSyKqE?si=8i4A… 🧠 Const described Bittensor's next year in 25 seconds.. Ditto had already announced it He's asked where the network will be a year from now He talks about real products.. and only one name comes up 🔵 Ditto @heydittoai His idea: a team spends a share of its emissions buying compute from other subnets, instead of sending it all to miners Ditto announced exactly that on stage at Exploit Summit on September 29: - a share of miner emissions will buy inference credits - no raise, no treasury sale - the money never leaves Bittensor - 50% of profits buy back the alpha.. and burn it Const's other demand is new money.. selling outside the TAO bubble That's moving too: - 1,342 connected apps - 2,560 registered users mid-September, weekly actives up 18.8% - a business offer, bespoke builds and on-prem What I'm watching over the next few weeks: - the Router track for miners - the first business contracts - referrals and the partner program Gamma isn't live yet.. Ditto already buys its inference from other subnets Bittensor builds the intelligence.. Ditto gives it a memory (clip: Const interviewed by [@JesusMartinez ], at 22:02)
