I said goodbye to a patient a few years ago. She didn’t die, she just got old. I treat patients to age 21 and they move on. When they do, I joke, “well, I did my job! I kept you alive until adulthood!” With this kid, it was not a joke. 1/

It’s been an amazing week! The power of non-verbal communication and taking time to know the #youngadults as individuals with their own unique #communication. To build up this trust with them and their parents over time is a privilege #shortbreakstays #respite

As a whole society we owe so much to those who #care and support others as informal and family carers. When are we going to value them properly with adequate resourcing, #assessments and real supports? We are all part of the one community of care. #CarersRightsDay #MakeCareCount

Would love to share our recent podcast with you: "How Is Today?"🙏 the first podcast about grief for people who haven't been through it. We're hoping to help open up the conversation by giving friends (supporting those with grief) the tools and confidence to talk about it🙏

“We’ve got questions around who defines what a safe space is, and how this notion of safe space is changing. For example, is a Zoom space as safe as a face-to-face space?” @RobynDowlen reflects on our latest research digest, Young people’s mental health. #ValuingCulture

"An emptiness, a panic, a tsunami of emotion, an avalanche of thoughts & noise in my head that was screechy, piercing, loud, all consuming." Grief is overwhelming. But for those with ADHD, it can be even more intense. loom.ly/ns-gCgY #ADHDAwarenessMonth

We are a Disabled People’s Organisation, led by disabled people ourselves. Why does this matter? Because disabled people know best what prevents our full inclusion into Scottish society and what needs to be done to promote it! ✊

When I visit aged care facilities, residents talk about their loneliness. They talk about a focus on tasks - that no one is seeing the real them. The person behind the task. A person with a rich life history. A person with likes, dislikes, fears, worries, interests & wisdom.
