If you ain’t following tish you should she spits out the truth
Some people go through things that should have broken them.
Not the everyday stress that we all experience, but the kind of pain that changes the direction of your life.
And yet somehow… they come out softer.
More compassionate.
More grateful.
More open.
More willing to love.
Those are the people I pay attention to.
I’m lucky enough to have a couple of them in my life.
Last week, I sat with one of them while she’s walking through another incredibly difficult chapter. Instead of talking about everything that was happening to her, she shared the words she repeated to herself over and over during the darkest season of her life.
More than a hundred times.
Until one day, she believed them again.
“Don’t forget who the fuck you are.”
I’ve thought about those words every day since.
Because life will try to convince you that you’re weaker than you are. That you’ve lost yourself. That you’ll never feel like you again.
But underneath the fear, the grief, the disappointment, and the exhaustion…
You’re still there.
The strongest people I know aren’t the ones who avoided hardship.
They’re the ones who walked straight through it without letting it harden their hearts.
So if today feels heavy, borrow these words until you can believe them yourself.
Don’t forget who the fuck you are.
The gym has always been there.
Through every version of me.
The happiest chapters. The hardest ones.
The moments when life made sense, and the ones when absolutely nothing did.
For over 30 years, this has been so much more than a place to build muscle.
It’s where I’ve cleared my head, found my strength, worked through my emotions, and reminded myself of who I am.
Some days I walk in feeling unstoppable.
Other days, I’m just grateful I showed up.
Life changes. People change. Circumstances change.
But one thing has remained constant.
I have never regretted showing up for myself. ❤️

Apparently midlife is when we’re supposed to start slowing down.
No thanks.
At 52, I want to get stronger.
Dream bigger.
Try new things.
Change what isn’t working.
Take a few risks.
And see what else I’m capable of.
I don’t want to age quietly.
I’m just getting started. What about you? 🔥
At 52, I don’t think about wellness the way I did at 22.
Or 32.
Or even 42.
For years, I thought being healthy meant pushing harder, training more, staying lean, being disciplined, and always doing more.
And some of that served me really well.
But over time, my definition of wellness has gotten much bigger.
Now I care about strength, yes.
But I also care about sleep.
Recovery.
Hormones.
Stress.
Relationships.
Adventure.
Mental health.
Mobility.
Energy.
And whether the life I’m building actually feels good to live in.
I still love training hard.
I still believe in discipline.
I still believe we have to keep challenging ourselves as we get older.
But I don’t want wellness to be another thing women use to punish themselves.
I want it to help us live more.
Do more.
Feel more capable.
Stay independent.
Try new things.
Laugh more.
And say yes to the life in front of us.
I’ve changed my mind about a lot over the years.
And I hope I keep changing my mind.
That means I’m still learning.
What have you completely changed your mind about as you’ve gotten older?
I’d genuinely love to hear yours.

Ladies, you can’t control everything life throws at you—but you can control the standards you set for yourself and the habits you keep. That’s where your power is: in the small choices you make every damn day.

Maybe September is the real New Year.
There’s something about this time of year that feels different to me.
Summer gives us space. We travel. We loosen the routines. We live a little differently. And then September comes around and suddenly there’s this pull to regroup.
But this year, I’m not interested in “getting back on track.”
I’m interested in moving forward differently.
At 52, wellness means more to me than training hard, eating well and staying lean.
Of course I still want to be strong. I still want muscle. Energy. Mobility. Confidence in my body.
But I also want peace.
Clarity.
Purpose.
Better boundaries.
More time doing what actually feels meaningful.
And a life that feels as good on the inside as it looks on the outside.
That’s the season I’m in.
And maybe you’re there too.
There are still four months left in 2026.
That is a LOT of time to change how you feel.
To get stronger.
To rebuild a routine.
To take better care of yourself.
To stop breaking promises to yourself.
To finally make yourself a priority again.
You don’t need January.
You don’t need the perfect Monday.
You just need to decide that the next chapter starts now.
My fall programming begins Monday, and if you’ve been feeling that pull to reset physically, mentally and emotionally, come with me.
Let’s finish this year proud of how we showed up.
This isn’t about becoming who you used to be.
It’s about becoming who you are now.

I spent my 52nd birthday weekend in Vancouver doing a lot of the things I love most — moving my body, being outside, listening to live music, noticing people, thinking, feeling, and writing.
And somewhere in between all of that, I kept coming back to the same thought:
Why do so many of us wait until midlife to start really listening to ourselves?
To do the thing.
Take the trip.
Change our minds.
Trust our gut.
Say yes.
Say no.
Put the phone away.
Believe that maybe life is unfolding for us, not against us.
I don’t think getting older has made me want less from life.
If anything, it’s made me want to be more awake for it.
More present.
More open.
More courageous.
More willing to trust what I can’t fully explain yet.
I wrote these thoughts down over the weekend because they felt important.
Maybe one of them is exactly what you needed to hear too.
And if this kind of conversation speaks to you, I go a little deeper in my Friday’s Letter.
Comment LETTER and I’ll send it your way. 💌

“You look really happy.”
Yeah.
I think I finally understand why.
I stopped abandoning myself.
I stopped ignoring the little voice that kept saying, this doesn’t feel right anymore.
I stopped making decisions based solely on what would keep everyone else comfortable.
I stopped believing that staying the same was somehow safer than changing.
And I started asking myself some pretty uncomfortable questions.
What do I actually want?
What feels good to me now?
What have I outgrown?
And what am I willing to risk to build a life that actually feels like mine?
Because here’s the thing nobody tells you about midlife:
Sometimes finding yourself again requires you to be brave enough to disappoint people.
Sometimes it requires you to walk away from things that once made perfect sense.
Sometimes it means admitting that the life you built isn’t necessarily the life you want to keep living.
And sometimes the scariest choice is also the one that makes you feel the most alive.
I’m learning that happiness isn’t necessarily about having a perfect life.
It’s about living a life that feels honest.
A life that feels aligned.
A life that feels like you.
And maybe that’s one of the greatest gifts of getting older.
We finally become brave enough to stop asking,
“What should I do?”
…and start asking,
“What do I want?”
I’ve been living through some pretty big personal shifts lately, and I’m sharing a little more of that story in this week’s Friday Letter.
Not because I have everything figured out.
But because maybe you’re standing at your own crossroads right now.
And if you are, I want you to know:
It’s okay to be scared.
Do it scared.
Be brave.
Be bold.
Choose yourself.
You don’t get a second life.
This is it. ❤️
