Check out this time lapse from a camera that I have mounted at my daughter‘s house just north of Clayton, North Carolina.
Starting around 20 seconds in, watch the tree line. Something really strange happens that I really don’t understand. I thought maybe it was fog, but there was torrential rain falling. This is also the exact timeframe that a confirmed tornado was moving through parts of Clayton, just a few miles to the south of this camera.
What do you think is happening starting around the 22 second mark?
