warm hospitality and weddings on a working farm, frustrated yachtie, would prefer a BIG John Deere to a ferrari! #whataboutweddings

In this experiment Dr Rob Thompson of @UniRdg_Met shows just how long it takes water to soak into parched ground, illustrating why heavy rainfall after a #drought can be dangerous and might lead to flashfloods.

Several years into GDPR, it remains fucking bonkers in practice. Every site on the internet gets an awful pop-up that no one reads and clicks anything to make it go away as quickly as possible. It’s an idea that 100% backfired and is pointless and makes every website worse. – at Paddington, London

He came to see me in Cambridge yesterday, where I accepted his medal on my father’s behalf. I think he’d feel beyond honoured if he knew. Thank you Nils for being a great ally and friend. nytimes.com/2022/02/25/world…

A stunning graph worth sharing. It shows how #soil is the largest repository of organic matter on land; storing more carbon than all vegetation AND atmosphere combined. It's one of many reasons why we must protect & enhance our soils. #soilhealth

Deeply unhelpful for the hundreds of couples getting married in the next fortnight and also for suppliers who need to know whether to order food, flowers, staff etc. The issue is compounded by the fact that there's no wedding insurance available to cover cancellations.

It’s all very well for @RishiSunak to keep on saying about VAT reduction but it’s only on accommodation, food and soft drinks. Not on alcohol and if you have no turnover you have no reduced VAT. Never tells the whole story. – at Taunton, England

This is not the winter the wedding industry wanted and it's certainly not the one we needed. Whilst it's heartening to see @RishiSunak announce some support for the hospitality sector, 400,000 wedding workers have yet again been left out in the cold 🧵#whataboutweddings

Isn’t it great to be from a country where a child born in Canada to Romanian and Chinese parents can come to Britain aged two and become a 🇬🇧 national heroine within 16 years? Let’s try and keep the country that way shall we @pritipatel ?
