A new era of onchain automation begins.
Limitless potential. Permissionless execution.

Everyone framed @ethereum scaling as an L2 story.
2026 tells a different one.
L1 execution targets are increasing.
Gas limits rising.
Blob throughput expanding.
Ethereum is scaling on both layers.
Over the next 3 years, what will matter more for Ethereum’s resilience:
Higher L1 capacity
or
Stage 2 rollups at scale?
The conversation around L2s is becoming more precise.
Scaling alone may not be a sufficient differentiator. Clear execution profiles and defined use cases matter.
As the stack matures, reliability and coordination across environments become increasingly important.
Most smart contract failures were not unpredictable.
They were unnoticed.
Which on-chain signals do you think teams still underestimate the most?
A few thoughts below 🧵
Autonomous execution only works when trust is programmable.
ERC-8004 brings identity, reputation, and validation onchain, unlocking agent-to-agent coordination on Ethereum.
A surprising number of Web3 protocols still rely on scripts and cron jobs for critical onchain execution.
It works, in early stages.
It even works in testing.
And then one high-stress moment exposes the weakest part of the automation stack.
Failure is not the problem.
It’s that no one is accountable when execution fails in production.
Automation without economic guarantees shifts responsibility into the future, where missed executions, silent failures, and operational risk become harder to detect and far more expensive to fix.
2025 was about proving things worked.
In 2026, the focus shifts to whether they can endure.
Layer 2s moved from experiments to sustained usage.
DeFi began behaving like infrastructure.
Regulation stopped being background noise and started shaping design choices.
The question is no longer “Can this work?”
It is “Can this hold up under pressure?”
This is the point infrastructure begins to set expectations.
Most smart contracts do not fail at deployment.
They fail over time, through interaction and scale.
Smart contract security is not a tooling problem.
It is a systems problem.
A review of 86 Ethereum analysis tools shows why. Each catches known issues well, none are sufficient alone.
Security emerges from architecture, interactions, and continuous testing. Tooling works best when it reinforces systems built for longevity.
2026 prediction.
DeFi actions will shift from being user triggered to network driven.
For users, it will feel almost like magic.
