1. P2P, simple, no intermediaries.
Apple Pay:
1. A user enters their credit card information into the iPhone.
2. This information is passed as a token (for security reasons) to the E-commerce Server.
3. The server then stores this tokenized data to the chip inside the phone.
4. The E-commerce Server communicates with a Device Account Number (DAN) which is, in turn, linked with the user's bank.
5. Once verified, the DAN sends a confirmation back to the E-commerce Server to finalize the transaction.
Google Pay:
1. A user enters their credit card information into the Android phone.
2. This data is stored on a Google server.
3. The Google server generates a payment token, which is a secure representation of the credit card info.
4. The payment token is then sent to the E-commerce Server.
5. The E-commerce Server communicates with the user's bank to verify the transaction.
6. Once verified, the bank sends confirmation back to the E-commerce Server.
