It is absolutely heartening to see the Hon'ble judges have correctly observed that "Non Hindus sporting religious markers and who do not subscribe their reverence to the deity concerned cannot be permitted to step into any part of an Agamic temple premises" There have been quite a few transgressions of late, in important temples and this ruling could not have come at a better time. Our dharmic temples are not tourist spots, not places to display secularism and every part is sacrosanct. This needs to be strictly adhered to and enforced by the HRCE dept.
Non Hindus sporting religious markers and who do not subscribe their reverence to the deity concerned cannot be permitted to step into any part of an Agamic temple premises not just beyond the flag pole, rule Justices G.R. Swaminathan and P. Murugan of #MadrasHighCourt If such entry is permitted without them signing an undertaking, it would defile the sanctity of the temple concerned, they add. Judges: "We notice in recent times that there are egregious breaches. Mr.Badrudeen Mustafa, an MLA representing the Madurai Central Constituency where the famed Meenakshi temple is located, went inside the temple premises soon after his election. He claimed that he had a right to inspect if proper amenities are being provided. He also went up the temple towers on the occasion of Kumbabishekam. It is ironical that the said MLA proclaimed that Sanatana Dharma ought to eradicated. "We take judicial notice of the fact that a Hon'ble Minister who is a Christian by faith, entered Thiruchendur temple without giving the undertaking required from Non-Hindus. We have the illustrious instance of the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Shri Joseph Vijay who worshipped Goddess Meenakshi after signing the undertaking. The Hon'ble Chief Minister who is a Christian by faith was not asked to convert to Hinduism. He was only requested to affirm his reverence for the deity. This is what we call as an inclusive approach. "We recall instances from the holy life of Kanchi Maha Periyava. When some foreigners and persons belonging to other faiths would express their desire to embrace Hinduism, he not only discouraged them but called upon them to show greater fidelity to their faith. When Justice Ismail of the Madras High Court used to visit him, Periyava respected the great judge's sentiments by giving him sandal wood paste instead of Viboothi. "Chamchagiri is endemic to our political culture. The party The party workers as a mark of sycophancy hang around their leader. They tend to make a bee-line for him. Whether the occasion is appropriate is beside the point. A jocular instance comes to our mind. A well known Minister was having a good time in a spa. Somehow word spread around. Soon, a good number of Chamchas obsequiously entered the spa and offered their pranams. Much to the acute embarrassment of the Neta. One can imagine how the party workers would conduct themselves when they come to know that their leader, be he an MLA or Minister, is to visit their local temple. Out of sheer enthusiasm, they will follow suit without bothering if they can enter the premises or not. We take judicial notice of a video doing rounds in the social media of persons wearing skull caps, pushing their way through in Thiruvannamali Arunachaleswarar temple, notwithstanding the vigorous protests of the devotees. The HR&CE staff stood as mute spectators. "Not only Chamchagiri but also optics matters in a democracy. We know of one political leader, who is a fundamentalist subscribing to a non-Hindu faith. But he would make it a point to visit the temple and also prominently display the religious mark on his forehead. This was to play to the gallery. The vote value of such a display, is obvious. We hold that usages and customs of temple cannot kneel down before such display of Chamchagiri and optics." Thangam Venkatesh versus State of Tamil Nadu (WP MD 30452/26)

There cannot be a crueller joke than this! Leftist distortians like Romila Thapar, who drew heavily upon Western and colonial historiography and promoted contested narratives such as “Ashoka ruled before Yudhishthira” through their writings and even in school textbooks, are now making such claims! It is, in fact, Indic scholars who have sought to correct these distortions through indigenous primary sources, including our scriptures, inscriptions and literary traditions, who are qualified to make such a statement. thehindu.com/news/national/h…

The reigns of Aditya I and Parantaka I witnessed the construction of numerous temples along the banks of the Kaveri. One such remarkable example is the Vada Thirthanathar Temple at Andanallur, near Tiruchirappalli. This Shiva temple was built by Sembiyan Irukkuvel, also known as Poodi Parantakan. An inscription in the temple records that the chieftain sought land from the king for its construction. Having obtained the land, he built the temple and performed ‘Jala Samprokshanam’ (the consecration ceremony). Interestingly, the inscription specifically mentions Jala Samprokshanam, not Kudamuzhukku. The chieftain also made extensive land endowments to support the temple's daily rituals and upkeep. These included provisions for: - Sennadai (food offerings) - Eight perpetual lamps - Four Manis (temple accountants) - Two conch blowers and two trumpet blowers - two flower garlands every day - Temple cleaning and maintenance - Recitation of Thevaram Pathigams What makes this inscription particularly fascinating is that the temples were not merely constructed and consecrated; they were endowed with resources to ensure the continuity of worship, music, offerings and daily services.

It was a divine experience to be at Sri Kapalishwara Temple premises in Mylapore. Amidst the SEA of astikas, I was given the opportunity to render a discourse in Tamizh on Sri Rudram. I spoke about the kshetra mahatmya, and then delineated a few mantras (from Anuvakas 1, 3, 11) substantiating how Saivas and Vaishnavas interpret the same. My appeal was to understand the differences (for academic reasons) but work towards appreciating the common aspects between these two ancient paths, thereby serving under the larger umbrella of sanatana dharma for unity, peace and prosperity.

This data from Mythic Society is a great tool to combat the nonsense that is often posted on X, saying Karnataka was all "Jaina faith" and other faiths usurped it due to some "conspiracy". Since I can post only 4 images in one post, let's look at the data in the 4 images - corresponding to 4th, 6th, 8th & 10th centuries - Pre-Hoysala times. Here are the cumulative numbers, by what is indicated in the invocatory verses: 4th C - > 3 Shaiva, 1 Vaishnava, 1 Jaina 6th C -> 8 Shaiva , 7 Vaishnava, 2 Jaina 8th C -> 38 Shaiva, 24 Vaishnava, 39 Jaina 10th C -> 160 Shaiva, 57 Vaishnava, 140 Jaina So where is the "all Jaina" period in the history of Karnataka? Don't get me wrong. Jainas were part of the Karnataka population for a long time, but the area was NEVER EXCLUSIVELY Jaina, as it is made out to be by some handles here. How does it follow in later centuries? See the reply.
Karnataka's gods and faiths, on its stones, century by century. Nearly 8,000 dated inscriptions from every district of Karnataka, 4th to 19th century, and over 3,000 more not yet dated. Shiva is named most, then Vishnu, the Jinas and the Goddess. Watch them spread across the state in the video, and see the numbers in the flyer.
