I asked DBoM if there’s any chance she’ll continue cos maaaan i’d love to see this scene: “My friend Gabri has been terrorizing Maya for years, I like the idea of Maya’s big sister turning up to terrorize her right back.” #Station19 #MarinaSpinOff #MarinaFanfic

📢 BIOLOGY FIC LINK FROM DBOM… something went awkward with the saving and i think messed with formatting a bit… but at least it’s completed. Just still give kudos and comments when ao3 is back. docs.google.com/document/d/1… #Station19 #MarinaSpinOff #MarinaFanfic

I need ao3 back online, because I keep seeing the most tech illiterate takes with hundreds or thousands of likes and people just spreading misinformation

Scraping has existed long before AI and has been an integral part of archiving websites and content online for years. There are complete torrents of ao3 available with millions of works. The problem is people suddenly using AI to publicly upload that content elsewhere en masse

scariest part of this whole ao3 blackout is realizing everyone’s saving fics as pdf instead of epub

Another downside of AO3 being down is having to see the dumbest takes on my tl about how “AO3 is laundering money” or “they get so much money for nothing” when they literally publish their budget/spending every year & Running a massive website on your own servers is EXPENSIVE

Maybe I should make a google drive with fics, I have done it before for Brittana when fics got purged from ffnet. But I dont want to take comments/kudos away from authors, bc people might not go back and comment when ao3 is up again🤔

We estimate that service restoration for #AO3 will take around 2 weeks but it could be up to 4 weeks. We are hopeful that we will be able to bring the site back up in a degraded state sooner. Refer to our status page for updates: otwstatus.org/
