Something you thought you may never see - Kansas Democrats have a firewall of 15,000 votes barely a week out from the midterms
Early voting continued in Kansas this weekend, and over 200,000 Kansans have voted so far! Here are the current margin and turnout numbers by House District. Johnson County continues to be a turnout nuke, but Sedgwick will catch up some this week as they open more EV locations.

Here's a super interesting correlation. The district-level turnout has a surprisingly high correlation (R^2=0.683) with the swing from the 2012 to 2024 election.

This could just be another chart of income, as richer districts both turnout more and swung more against Trump. But in making this I was surprised just how correlated they were

The tiny photo of Adam Hamilton in his ads is so funny to me

Gonna love sitting behind one of these at a red light and have it blast a whole cloud right in my face as the light turns green

Why did I think that it would be easier to draw every precinct in paint than just learn how to use QGIS
This is my most time consuming map yet, but it's worth it. The 1820 New York gubernatorial election saw incumbent governor DeWitt Clinton, mired by the controversies of the under-construction Erie Canal, narrowly win against U.S. vice president Daniel D. Tompkins.

Longshot but does anyone know a good source of historical Canadian polling divisions? I'd map a ton of races if I had that resource

More than Maine, Alaska, Texas, or Ohio??
Political commentator Mark Halperin says he believes Kansas is the second-most likely Republican Senate seat to flip to Democrats in the 2026 midterms, after North Carolina

This suggests that for Trump to become popular again, gas simply needs to drop to $1/gallon. Easy!
The most informative chart I've ever assembled regarding the midterms isn't a map — it's a comparison of Trump net approval and the average gas price.

I used to attend Adam Hamilton’s church and if he wins I might have to start going back lol

It's good to have a spry 66-year old as Senator instead of the dinosaurs in Washington. As you can see, he's the youngest in this room too!
Great to be in McPherson at the historic opera house. Thanks to everyone who joined us for bbq and a great conversation.
