A Chinese intelligence operative working under diplomatic cover was detected by Philippine counterintelligence forces in 2024 and subsequently pulled out of the country by Beijing, according to former National Security Council official Jonathan Malaya.
Malaya also revealed that more than 20 Filipinos suspected of spying for China were monitored during his tenure at the NSC.

To the internet "legal scholars" who call him solely responsible for acquitting former First Lady Imelda Marcos, it just proves you don’t know how the Supreme Court decides on cases.
The Supreme Court is a collegiate body, not a solo act!
Then Associate Justice Zalameda is the ponente — the assigned writer — for a 5-justice First Division.
Four other justices reviewed, debated, and voted on that decision based strictly on the prosecution's evidence (or lack thereof).
If you really want to critique his pen as ponente, at least read Deduro v. Vinoya, where he literally took down red-tagging.
Writing that decision demonstrates his role in a major constitutional and human rights milestone in the country.
Know the basics before you try to bench the new Chief Justice!
