👋 I’m Umar, a full-time software engineer and solo indie hacker. By day, I work as a software engineer. By night, I build and ship my own products. Currently building: • List Maro: A makers-first product directory listmaro.com • Expenie: A simple personal finance app expenie.com • Shove: A tiny bidding experiment shove.lol Self-taught developer with 5+ years of experience, mostly working with TypeScript, React, Node.js, PostgreSQL, Redis, Next.js and AI APIs. I share the real journey here: what I build, what works, what fails and what I learn along the way. If you’re into indie hacking, AI products or building in public, follow along.

I think the paradigm is now shifted. The people who have more experience in the domain, who are domain experts, who know what the requirements are and what their customer needs, can actually build better products because now the code is not the mote anymore. The best part, the hard part, is basically the marketing, the distribution, knowing your customer and what they require.

7 PRs into Conn today. Added a bunch of small things that make a real difference when you're working with agents. Esc to stop, up arrow to recall old prompts, drafts survive reloads, proper diffs for Codex edits, and every turn shows the files it touched. Agent, terminal, and browser in one window. Linux build is on GitHub if you want to try it 👇 github.com/umarbashirr/Conn

Today I spent the morning cleaning up things users don’t need to see and the afternoon fixing a slow screen. Turns out, it was making the same request 8 times. Fixed it. Now it asks once. Small fixes, better products. Just another day of building
