This, for me is the working formula for change of Government. Let Edwin Sifuna run for President and be deputized by Irungu Kangata or John Methu. Fred Matiangi, Martha Karua, Eugene Wamalwa and any other presidential aspirant in the United Opposition should run for Senate and secure votes for Edwin Sifuna from their respective Counties. H E Rigathi Gachagua and H E Kalonzo Musyoka should be “supreme leaders” in charge of the presidential campaign and the Government to be formed.

This is a symptom of what ails sports in Kenya in general. Trust me, this same level of comprehension, knowledge and language is reflected in boardrooms when engaging sponsors and investors.
The problem runs much deeper than what we see on our screens. Even our own systems don’t believe in themselves. We have spent so long undermining the value of our own sports that we have normalised mediocrity, even in the rooms where decisions about the future of sport are made.
You cannot build a commercially competitive sports industry when the very people entrusted with selling it don’t believe in its value.
