It’s very cool that today’s discourse comes after last week’s where everyone was insisting that child free/single people are supported and considered in the same way families and parents are. Let’s wrap this up now.

Once again, we have arrived at a β€œI dunno, I think it kind of depends” position
You guys realize that one of the greatest joys of motherhood is never again having to do any of the tedious and unfulfilling social rituals you were forced to do so you could increase your odds of finding a man who wanted to have kids with you

Look, I’m the queen of the accessible party, but y’all are getting goofy now There is room in this world for all sorts of parties, and some of them can be β€œexclusive” or goofy or not appealing to you personally You’re not morally superior than your friends who think a weekend away from their kids is a fun use of their time and money. And they’re not better than you, either. You’re just different! Say no, move on, and have cake at home for your own birthday!
my issue isn't that these events exist, but that they are by their very nature exclusive (a lot of people can't do this) and they replace more accessible parties that everyone can attend. On a macro level, it's annoying.

Replying to @uncletypewriter
As is the insistence that if you do it it'll be miserable and harmful for your kids. Maybe you or the kid will have terrible separation anxiety and cry the whole time or whatever, but everyone's not like that. Some kids enjoy other people and so do some parents lol.

Microsoft just made $133.7 BILLION in net income last year. Today they announced they are getting rid of 60,000 workers. Fuck these companies man.

Something that could have been easily solved with a "sorry we can't make it this time" has turned into "you're a bad person if you invite me to things" and "you're a bad mother if you have more than a few hours away from your infant." Toxins must have entered the water supply

A more important question is do your kids want to be your child? Would you want to be your child? What does your own inner child have to say about what kind of job you are doing?
β€œi really want kids” ok but do your kids really wanna be wage slaves during a climate crisis?

They don't actually care about the kids in questions or their mothers. They just want to feel superior to them
Exactly 😭 ... These parents still hv the possibility of having happy, healthy and also well balanced children. I remember a mom saying she had to leave some of the mom groups she was in cuz they were so wound up tightly, judgemental and extremely self absorbed.

When you’ve finished judging those mums, they’ll still be rested and have happy, healthy kids, and you’ll still just be bleating on Twitter

It can be a party, a spa weekend, a cabin in the woods, a hotel room to sleep for two nights uninterrupted. Whatever she needs. And you? Just bleating on Twitter

You actually should be ashamed if you would leave your baby with some random sitter because your girls weekend is more important than their safety.
