Last year, our office surveyed the community and identified 107 intersections in need of daylighting to improve pedestrian safety. We shared this with @NYC_DOT.
At this week’s Transportation Cmte hearing, I asked DOT why daylighting has only been implemented at 2 corners.
Clearing corners of obstructive cars has been standard practice across more than 40 states and as far back as the 1920s, including in New York State, but the Big Apple exempts itself in favor of more parking. buff.ly/nj1JCaj

Just yesterday @UnderhillOSCC was featured on PIX11 as @NYCMayor took a victory lap for making the street safer.
Yet he's been privately meeting with opponents of the project, and is holding a meeting Monday to discuss removal of safety improvements.

Thrilled to see the final touches going in on the Underhill Bike Boulevard!
The community really wanted these traffic calming measures, and the most extensive public outreach effort ever done by @NYC_DOT for a SIP proved that. Can we finally get the Bedford PBL next @NYCMayor???
Today @NYC_DOT informed us that the speed limit on the Underhill Bike Boulevard will be reduced to 10 mph.
Underhill has seen >80% reduction in crashes thanks to the bike blvd treatment. Now the new speed limit will also lower the risk of serious injury from a crash to below 10%
