No video brings me to tears like the footage from South Lebanon's liberation 26 years ago. You can physically feel the joy through the screen, like you're right there celebrating with them. Hezbollah gave those people their freedom back and let them breathe again.

At 3 a.m. on July 23, 2026, US forces conducted missile strikes on Salamcha, the border crossing between Iraq and Iran. The strikes hit an area where pilgrims were walking for the Arbaeen of Imam Hussain, resulting in at least 2 deaths and 11 injuries, according to local authorities and Iranian officials. The Arbaeen is the 40th day commemoration of the Day of Ashura that marks the martyrdom anniversary of the Holy Prophet’s grandson Imam Hussain, his family and companions ki-lled in Karbala. Millions of pilgrims, mostly Shia Muslims, from all over the world flock to the city to pay their respects.

Earlier this week, the US government released a 100 page document titled “Cuba: The Capital of 21st Century Communism” claiming decades worth of covert influence in American left-wing political spaces. The report alleges that anti-imperialist, anti-racist, and anti-capitalist movements within the US were propagated by Cuban espionage campaigns. Following the release of the report, the Pentagon reportedly began drawing up a range of detailed plans for a potential military assault on Cuba.

A revolutionary underground is most closely associated with the armed struggle, but I can think of a plethora of reasons why even an ostensibly ‘legal’ organization would need a space free from the prying eyes of the state

Really nasty work to include that the perpetrator said "Allahu Akbar", you know what you're inciting and playing directly into the fabricated crisis of antisemetism against bloodthirsty Muslims
I have been briefed on today’s horrifying stabbings on the Upper West Side, where an Asian man and a Jewish man were attacked. According to witness and victim statements, the perpetrator yelled “Allahu Akbar” during both attacks. I am relieved that both victims are in stable condition. The NYPD responded immediately and arrested Raul Morales in connection with both assaults—and I am grateful to the officers for their swift response. The NYPD’s initial investigation suggests that mental health may have been a factor. They are also evaluating these stabbings as potential hate crimes. These hateful and despicable attacks have no place in our city.

Exactly 20 years ago today, on July 14, 2006, a single broadcast changed the course of the July War and sent waves of celebration through the streets of Lebanon. During a live telephone address, martyred Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah directed the public's attention to the Mediterranean, just as an anti-ship missile struck the Israeli Navy's flagship: "The surprises that I promised you will start now. Now, in the middle of the sea, facing Beirut, the Israeli military warship that attacked our infrastructure... look at it burn." The successful strike on the state-of-the-art Sa'ar 5-class corvette (the INS Hanit) left Israeli military command utterly stunned, as they repeatedly underestimated Hezbollah's capabilities and continue to do so. #Lebanon #Beirut #Hezbollah #SayyedHassanNasrallah #AlMayadeen

“One of the things Iran has created is a society of resistance,” explained Dr. Renato Vélez Castro, a Chilean professor, in an interview with VPol in Iran. “So the people actually have a deep understanding, ideologically speaking, about what is the project of the Islamic Republic.” ■ “That's something we” in Latin America “should learn from Iran,” Vélez Castro said, “to have a society that is politically aware, not just supporting the government out of some emotional thing or because the government gives you some things at a specific moment. So you actually believe in the project and you are willing to sacrifice to a certain degree to keep this thing going on.”

Calling us Houthis is like calling the Iranian people Khomeinis. Wouldn't it be better to call us Yemenis instead of Houthis? I wish that were the case, because "Houthi" is the title of the leader of the Yemeni revolution, Sayyid Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, while the entire population participated in the September 21, 2014 revolution. Therefore, you should call us by our true name: Yemenis or Ansar Allah (Supporters of God). The name "Houthis" is used by our enemies to belittle us and deny our existence as a state, government, people, and army. Therefore, I hope you will not call us by the name our enemies use for us.

📢📢 New Roundtable: The Ramadan War and the Changing World Order: Imperial Versus Sovereign Futures To make sense of this historical moment, @bikrumsinghgill and I co-edited a roundtable in @MidEastCritique arguing that the ongoing war against Iran cannot be reduced to another episode of US intervention in West Asia. Its stakes extend far beyond the region: what is being contested is the future political, legal, and economic architecture of world order itself. Much of the discussion in Western academia and media has focused on military exchanges, diplomacy, nuclear negotiations, or human rights. Our contributors ask a different set of questions: • Why is Iran central to US imperial strategy? • What does this war reveal about the crisis and transformation of US imperial power? • How is it reshaping regional and international order? Bringing together scholars from Iran and across the Global South, the roundtable foregrounds perspectives too often absent from dominant academic and policy debates. Rather than treating Iran/West Asia as an object of analysis, these essays theorize the present conjuncture from within the region's own histories, political traditions, institutions, and anti-imperialist struggles. 🧵 tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.…

On July 13, 2026, a mass rally was held in Al-Sabeen Square, Sana’a, Yemen, in support of the armed forces and against renewed Saudi aggression targeting Sana’a International Airport. The attacks were carried out in an attempt to prevent an Iranian aircraft from landing, as part of the ongoing Saudi blockade imposed on the airport. In response, Ansar Allah targeted Saudi Arabia’s Abha International Airport with ballistic missiles. During the rally, Yemenis condemned the Saudi actions, voiced support for Yemen’s armed resistance, and expressed gratitude to Iran for facilitating humanitarian flights and helping break the blockade imposed on Sana’a International Airport.

Hamas is alive. Lindsey Graham is dead.
Under the ceasefire proposal, Hamas is supposed to fully disarm and relinquish power in Gaza. After my recent visit to Israel, it is clear to me they have failed to do both and are, in fact, rearming and consolidating power. It is time to put Hamas on the clock when it comes to disarming, fully understanding there can never be peace or stability in Gaza or the Middle East until Hamas has been dealt out of the game.
