Imagine going from 5 years of experience to feeling like a complete beginner. Your confidence drops. Your income becomes uncertain. Your experience suddenly feels irrelevant. But there’s a smarter way to start over. Here’s what nobody is telling you. 🧵

Switching careers isn’t about throwing away everything you’ve built. It’s about finding where your experience meets new opportunities. And sometimes, the smartest move isn’t quitting. It’s PREPARING.

One more thing: Don’t confuse excitement with readiness. Watching someone earn well in tech doesn’t mean their career path is right for you. Understand the skills, challenges, opportunities, and time commitment first. Choose a career based on FIT, not HYPE.

Before switching careers, use this 3-step test: 1. EXPLORE: Speak to 3 people already working in your target field. 2. EXPERIMENT: Complete one small, realistic project. 3. EVALUATE: Do you enjoy the actual work or just the idea of the career? Save this before your next move 📌

Here’s the mistake many career switchers make: They assume they’re starting from zero. YOURE NOT A teacher moving into tech already understands communication. A salesperson understands customers. A project manager understands deadlines. Your previous experience is your advantage.

The first thing you lose isn’t money. It’s confidence. Yesterday, people came to you for answers. Today, you’re asking questions that feel embarrassing and basic. That’s the uncomfortable reality of becoming a beginner again. But being new to a field doesn’t make you inexperienced

The second shock is financial. You might spend months learning without earning from your new skill. And your first opportunity might pay less than your previous job. This is why quitting immediately can be risky. You have to build a financial cushion before making the leap.

Do so much work it’ll be unreasonable not to succeed
One of the reasons so many average people stay poor is because they believe they are special. They believe their life is going to magically change because they're going to get a letter in the mail from magic school inviting them on an adventure. The reality is, we get those letters every single day. They just look like risk and a shitload of work, with no guarantee of a payoff.

Here’s a mistake you should avoid: Don’t rush to learn a tech skill just because someone says it pays well. First, ask yourself: → Do I enjoy this kind of work? → What skills do employers require? → What strengths do I already have? → Can I build projects to practise?
