UPDATED: When I started collecting, there wasn’t a simple way to understand what One Piece vintage set came before what. I designed the guide I wish existed: a high-level roadmap to the eras/sets that shaped One Piece TCG over the last 25+ years.🏴☠️
One Piece Card Eras is LIVE! 🏴☠️ Set sail through 25+ years of One Piece card history. Explore 3 eras, 9 card lines, and some of the cards that defined them. I got a little carried away designing this one. A thread…🧵

Then there are the cards. ✨ Flat scans never capture vintage foil finishes, so I rebuilt the holo patterns as custom layered alphas, from wavy foils and prismatic grids to radial bursts and Berry Match textures. Shaders help bring them back to life. And look/feel real.
2004 Luffy BN-11 | Japanese One Piece Card Game. Distributed as a tournament participation promo, BN-11 is titled 海賊の志 (“Pirate’s Ambition”). Both its name and artwork were also used for PR-001, the first English One Piece card, released Sept. 8, 2005.
2001 Chopper C528…new pickup, I can’t unsee the Windows XP wallpaper every time I look at this card. Blue skies, rolling green hills, not a care in the world. I’m officially nicknaming this one “The Chopper XP.” 💻🪟

Bringing the One Piece card timeline to life for anyone getting into vintage or curious what came when. A high-level guide to the major sets, highlighting key cards from each. I’m also recreating the original holo/foil effects in WebGL, look out for it Friday.
Beyond the cards: Japan, 2008. Banpresto produced these embossed One Piece card cases exclusively for its Ichiban Kuji lottery, not for retail sale. Fans purchased tickets, each awarding a prize from eight categories, ranging from large figures to collectibles like these. 🏴☠️
Free alpha: This 1997 Weekly Jump COWA! calendar card predates Luffy’s 1999 Hyper Battle C01 rookie by nearly TWO YEARS. One of the earliest card collectibles to feature Straw Hat Luffy. eBay $100+ skip the markup, hit Mercari Japan or Yahoo! Flea Market for $15–$25/ea…for now.
The Hyper Battle Bible, MINT. Shueisha’s Feb 2002 catalog documented 800+ cards across 16 releases: 192 pages of card art, promos, complete stats & rules. This copy retains GA-01 & GA-02 exclusive promos, previewing the next One Piece CCG that debuted that same month. 🏴☠️
☠️ October 2005: The Quest Begins. One Piece’s first English tournaments awarded stamped Jolly Roger Winner, judge, and participant cards…21 years later, I’ve archived the launch, including PR001, the first English One Piece card. HERE: vintageonepiece.com
