It's easy to reduce pregnancy to statistics when you're not the one who has to experience it. Statistics don't carry babies. People do.

If your brother, uncle, boyfriend, father or husband is one of the men displaying stupidity in this comment section, I send you my deepest consolation.
The reactions to this post is the concrete evidence that a lot of men only see women as a "baby factory", a pleasure tool and a lifelong chef. Because I don't understand why men who do not have wombs are feeling triggered over a woman's decision. They all go about claiming that children are worthy legacies and children open doors of success. If most of these idiots opened any door for their parents since birth, I'm sure it's door of debt and regret. Or how can a family legacy continue when fools like them are the ones entrusted with the baton?
I'm so pissed, wtf.

“Pregnancy FELT like a death sentence TO ME”
Nigerian men who have never even menstruated: you’re a vile woman. God will punish you. God will make you barren. You’re a liar. You can exaggerate. Pregnancy is not a death sentence.
Idiots.

She’s not daft. She’s a woman with experience on Pregnancy.
I respect him as a gynecologist, but he still has limit…& that’s the sincere truth.
He can educate on what best practices on the issue is, but he can’t tell her about the experience.
That’s why we as physicians are trained to listen to our patients.
If his Patient tells him, “Pregnancy is a death statement”. His response should be, “Tell me More…”. Not “Pregnancy is not a death statement.”
Also, because medicine is not a finite knowledge, we medical practitioners keep learning and updating research and knowledge by listening to people experiencing it, not arguing semantics or teaching them English.

Meanwhile @drifeleah, like me was responding to the "felt like" post.
She made a mistake by even acknowledging the "pregnancy is a death sentence" angle.
Her first time of dealing with these #mendem who love gaslighting I'm sure.

There's zero excuse for healthcare workers dunking on a woman for describing her own pregnancy experience.
They went as far as asking if she'd prefer to be sentenced to death but somehow we are the anti-natalists?
Common sense is actually not common.

It’s the context it was used alongside using words like STOP IT in caps !! it’s dismissive and condescending!!!
P.s: I’m sure you won’t normally call your female colleagues dear or even if you do , anyone has the right to say don’t call me that ..
It’s also public knowledge the common denominator of disciplinary cases brought against a lot of male doctors ..
So this is not about using it emails …It’s the CONTEXT..

Side note: It’s advisable to avoid terms of endearment unless you’re close to someone.
I’ve led several resuscitations involving women in cardiac arrest during pregnancy, labour or the postpartum period, on the labour ward or in theatre. I’ve seen the good, the bad and the ugly.
Medicine doesn’t always offer categorical yes-or-no answers.
So YES, pregnancy can be life-threatening and sometimes fatal. It can feel like a death sentence to someone going through a terrifying experience, while others may have uncomplicated pregnancies. Both realities deserve acknowledgement.
Hopefully, we’ll reach a point where every woman can describe her experience without fear of being dismissed, and fellow women can empathise whether or not they’ve experienced something similar.
But hospitals don’t have clean water and steady electricity.
The place where Tinubu’s campaign team is producing 40,000 tablets in China has been exposed!
The tablets are for campaigns. They will contain campaign messages translated into three major languages - English, Yoruba, and Hausa - and shared among supporters!
So, Tinubu’s government has enough money to produce 40k tablets, yet it's borrowing to finance basic needs?
This is unbelievable!✍️
