I should've been clearer. People are confused. My hypothetical didn't assume the current schedule. Just a random year where we lose 2 and don't make the playoff, then the next year we lose 2 and make it as a low seed. This year there is 0% chance we end with just two losses.

Like, does it really matter to fans if you have the same record but only made the playoff because it was expanded and you're just first round fodder? For me it's the same thing. 24-team CFP is smoke and mirrors that nobody wants, just so schools can make more money. Agree or no?

#USC hc lincoln riley on retiring early at 50 with all the hot-seat/buyout talk today, this quote feels especially relevant. buyout obligations are often offset if a coach takes another job — but what if lincoln doesn’t? wonder if he’d be content just walking away from coaching if things don’t work out at usc, and whether that changes usc's decision on if/when to move on

Saw this as it was happening and knew #USC was in trouble. Problem is defensive coordinator is now in the box, and I don't know if anyone else on the defensive staff has authority to call timeouts.

This is defensive malpractice. Lining up with 2 over 4 is bad math. Someone on the USC sideline should have been calling time out.

I'm going to take back what I said about players shouldn't be blamed for losing. That was true back in the day when they were "doing their best" and not getting paid. But these dudes are on the payroll now so they need to earn that money and be accountable when the play like 💩.
