Published yesterday, in this paper we showed that up to 15% of a plant #biopolymer can be used in plastic consumer products without compromising their mechanical or thermal properties. Promising approach for reducing our dependency on plastics. Full Paper: mdpi.com/1996-1944/15/13/443…

What an ABSOLUTE pleasure introducing students to @TheBraveRobot's animal-free dairy ice cream yesterday on the UVM campus! We had so many amazing conversations about #CellAg. This is the kind of outreach we had in mind while creating our club last year!

So far, I was the only student in our lab with funding directed towards a project in #CulturedMeat (instead of medical applications of biomaterials). Today, that number is 2 as we welcome Gabby White this summer who won a fellowship from the Food Systems Dept. Welcome Gabby!
Congratulations to Gabby White, a junior in @uvm_bme @uvmcems @uvmvermont, who recieved a Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) from @UVMFoodSystems @UVMFOUR to design and test new materials for #culturedmeat with @unculturedmeat this summer. Whoop whoop!

"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐... This documentary is beautifully detailed and laid out. It explains why this science is important, if not critical, if we consumers wish to continue our meat-laden dietary habits.”

A year ago, a non-academic friend listened to a talk I gave. I thought it went great. My friend disagreed. She said that academics are experts at making interesting stuff boring—and that we should all take a speech class. So I did. And here are 6 most useful things I learned.

Every time I see data on gender bias in citations, my pride in mentoring female PhD students turns to concern about their careers b/c our work will be under-cited at 2x rate than if their mentor were male #WomenInSTEM #CiteWomen #CitationalJustice
An increasing number of researchers are calling on academics to acknowledge the inequities in citational practices, and, by paying more heed to work from groups that are typically under-cited, take action to reduce them. Read the @Nature feature. go.nature.com/36oO6fw
