one thing i think PL does particularly well is that myers is never present to witness the consequences of her orders. she lives in a comfortable state of disconnect that her position of power affords her, in contrast with everyone else whos forced to reckon with The Horrors 1/10

its what makes myers' writing insanely excellent to me. the contrast of her at the start and end of the story - you visibly see the way power corrupts her, how easy it is the ignore that corruption, and how insidious and horrible the consequences of it is 10/10
