Version 2.9.9 was released last year. There's no excuse 💪
Chopin + Proof-Driven Development Kit from @GitHubNext and @MSFTResearch enable teams to ship AI-generated code to production without reviewing it line by line, with stronger assurance than code review and testing alone.
Now in research preview ⬇️
How do you _guarantee_ your agent's code is correct? You prove it.
Introducing Proof Driven Development Kit (PDD Kit) from @MSFTResearch.
PDD Kit helps turn your plan into a formal spec, then proves the agent's code meets that spec for every input. No vibe verification. PDD Kit is integrated with @GitHubNext's Chopin, so you can plan as a team.
PDD Kit takes an app's login flow from intent to a verified pull request:
It discusses your code, infers your intent as it goes, and proposes a formal spec in Verus, a proof language for Rust.
Once you approve the spec, the Verus verifier automatically proves the code meets it.
Where proof isn't possible, it falls back to empirical verification with tests and computer-use agents (CUAs).
It works on Rust today. No new language, no change in how you produce the underlying code, making formal methods more accessible.
The goal is a verified software factory, where engineers review specifications instead of code.
Come see it in action at GitHub Universe, Oct 28–29. Swing by the Speakeasy and ask for GitHub Next!

Device Sync in Entra Cloud Sync is now Generally Available!
Device sync lets you synchronize computer objects from Active Directory (AD) to Microsoft Entra ID by using the 𝗔𝗗𝟮𝗔𝗔𝗗𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗰 job in an AD to Microsoft Entra ID Cloud Sync configuration. After synchronization, the devices can become Microsoft Entra hybrid joined.
Note that device sync is disabled by default.
𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀
• Install the Microsoft Entra provisioning agent in your on-premises environment. The agent must be version 1.1.1107 or later. Download the latest available agent version from the Microsoft Entra admin center.
• Create an AD to Microsoft Entra ID Cloud Sync configuration.
• Your Microsoft Entra tenant ID and the verified domain that devices use for authentication. For federated environments, use a federated domain. Otherwise, use the primary *.onmicrosoft.com (onmicrosoft.com) domain.
• If you need to configure the SCP, temporary access to an account that's a member of the Enterprise Admins group in each AD forest that contains domain-joined computers. Use your organization's just-in-time privileged access process, if available.
• To configure device sync in the Microsoft Entra admin center, use an account with at least the Hybrid Identity Administrator role.

Two critical vulnerabilities have been identified in PHP, a widely used programming language that powers websites and web applications. These vulnerabilities (CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619) could allow malicious cyber actors to remotely execute code in PHP core, potentially compromising sensitive data and networks.
The FBI urges organizations to take the following steps now:
➡️ If an immediate update is not feasible it is recommended that organizations take the system offline until it can be fully mitigated.
➡️ Immediately update affected PHP installations following the guidance on php.net. Inventory where PHP runs in your environment, prioritizing internet-facing systems and vendor products that bundle PHP.
➡️ Monitor web servers for suspicious activity, including PHP processes unexpectedly launching command shells or downloading files. Ensure appropriate process-monitoring capabilities are in place to help identify potential exploitation.
➡️ If you find signs of compromise, isolate affected systems, preserve your web server and PHP logs, and report it to your local FBI field office or ic3.gov. Those reports help us identify the actors involved and warn other organizations before they become victims.
For the latest information, follow PHP’s announcement on php.net, CERT-EU Security Advisory 2026-018, and CISA’s Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog.
Effective Immediately, all organizations using PHP for their systems are advised to be prepared for an update addressing two critical vulnerabilities. PHP is widely used for web applications. These vulnerabilities often provide a direct path to the server's file system or database. If an immediate update is not feasible, it is recommend that organizations take the system offline until it can be fully mitigated. NSA will follow up shortly with more specific guidance.

Thanks to @dhinchcliffe for sharing a great breakdown of the 5 AI pricing models. It got me thinking about how Microsoft Copilot maps to that framework, so I put this together. Copilot already spans all five, from AI that's included in what you already use to per-seat, seat-plus-meter, usage-based, and per-outcome pricing (in preview). Different Copilot solutions, different pricing models. Choose what fits the work.

ALT Infographic titled 'How do you pay for Microsoft Copilot? 5 AI pricing models across the Microsoft Copilot portfolio.' Five columns: 1) Included – AI comes with something you already use, no separate AI charge (Copilot in the web, Edge, or existing Microsoft 365 licenses). 2) Per-seat add-on – a fixed license per person, e.g. Microsoft 365 Copilot. 3) Seat + meter – a license plus metered consumption for additional AI or agent capabilities. 4) Usage-based – pay for what gets consumed, e.g. Copilot Studio agent usage. 5) Per outcome – pay when a defined result occurs, such as a resolved case (preview). An arrow runs from more predictable cost to more value-aligned pricing.

It's time to drop support for Windows PowerShell, and move to PowerShell 7. Yes, even if it doesn't yet ship in-box with Windows Server. Just install it by default - you can still use WinRM, no need to switch to SSH. .NET Framework is *ancient* and lacks a decade of improvements
