Bitcoin and Monero software, including @cakewallet and @SparrowWallet are prepared for this - they've been building ai cybersecurity strategies for quite some time now, thanks to the diligence of forward thinkers like @vikrantnyc @sethforprivacy @callebtc Keep it up bros, stay sharp! xitter.cf/kimmonismus/status/211…
Whats happening right now is probably way worse than the Hugging Face incident. AI-powered attacks are hitting real organizations while major platforms disclose breaches and critical flaws. - Microsoft reports AI agents targeting hundreds of organizations, reaching privileged cloud access in under three hours in multiple cases. It attributes the ConnectWise compromise to the same group. - CrowdStrike documented four operators running successful AI-agent campaigns. One compromised at least 15 Argentine healthcare organizations. - PHP2Shell: AI helped turn longstanding PHP flaws into working exploits. Cloudflare’s CEO reports millions of exploitation attempts. Their AI involvement is unknown. - Railway disclosed possible access to customer secrets. LiteLLM shipped a backdoored release. Zeabur confirmed another breach and is shutting down. - GitLab patched a maximum-severity flaw affecting 12 years of releases. Node.js patched a serious code-execution vulnerability, with Vercel deploying firewall protections. Feels like a turningpoint.

Two types of people: 🚫 "AI will end humanity" doomposters 📈 Those using it to grow their business and get hours of their personal life back Same tech. Different futures. The gap isn't the AI, it's the mindset.

This is craazy. I asked one of our PhD engineers to look into NEAR *Confidential* Intents wondering how they designed their system. Unredacted, word-for-word, this was his answer 😱😱😱 "Everything I found out about the privacy claims and confidential intents is so bad that it seems almost comical and I cannot believe what I am seeing. Apparently they run a completely separate instance of the protocol, which is called FAR (as an opposite to NEAR), and that has a permissioned operator set. The entire confidentiality claim seems to rest upon the fact that it is a permissioned chain and the nodes are trusted to keep things private, there doesn't seem to be any deep technology behind it and it also does not seem to be open source. The entities running the nodes are also not publicly known. I almost feel weird writing this because it is so absurdly bad that it feels like ... I don't know ... a simulation? I know the usual level of overpromising in Web3 but this is so many levels beyond believable that it still feels unreal."

i feel like in crypto there's a lot of products cosplaying as tools what i love about building cake is that its all tool. the whole team conspires to let people do what they came to do, freely, with no bs no hidden incentives, no fomo, no walls. just tools, boringly sexy tools

So basically, today PHP got two critical bugs that let anyone run code on your server without even logging in, which is bad, and then the details leaked before the patch was even out, which is worse, and it works on WordPress and MediaWiki and Magento and Joomla and Laravel, and Censys says like 1.5 million servers are running a version with no fix, so the NSA was like "take your system offline," and the FBI was like "take your system offline," and CISA and the UK and CERT-EU were all like "take your system offline," and then the Prime Minister of Japan, the actual Prime Minister, posted at 5:55 in the morning telling 48.8 million people to take their system offline, so everyone took their system offline, like the Dutch cybersecurity agency took its own website offline, and the Dutch parliament went offline, and the Port of Rotterdam went offline, and Finland and France and Denmark started pulling government sites, and Wikipedia went down, and Archive.org went down, and Asana and GOG and Something Awful went down, and the University of Vienna's webmail went down for some reason, and that's just PHP. Because GitLab also dropped a CVSS 10.0, which is the highest score they give out, for a bug that's been there since 2014, so that's every self-hosted GitLab for twelve years, and then LiteLLM 1.107.0 got hijacked and shipped a credential stealer and a remote access trojan in every single wheel and the Docker images, including latest, and you didn't even have to import it, just installing it was enough, and it's the second time this year, and then Railway paused every deployment on the entire platform because someone got into the environment variables, so now everyone has to rotate every secret they've ever stored there, and TiDB Cloud said someone was walking around inside with stolen credentials for basically a month and an extortion group says they took 10.6 terabytes, and Zeabur got breached for the second time in two months and is just shutting down, like the whole company, and Node.js patched remote code execution and a TLS bypass, and CISA says Plex is being actively exploited, and someone took over 300 Tor exit relays to steal SSH passwords, and SafePay ransomware has hit over 600 critical infrastructure orgs, and India's biggest bank filed a data loss incident, and Japan has been in an official state of emergency in cyberspace since October 9, which honestly explains the 5:55 AM post. Oh, and eMudhra, a certificate authority that's issued over 60 million certificates, whose entire job is proving websites are who they say they are, was supposed to be using private keys that are random numbers over a hundred digits long, and one of them was 4. Just 4. And the others were like 66 and 237. Anyway, it's Wednesday.

Another fun infra project for me recently was moving all of our @torproject infrastructure to a proper Onionbalance setup, so now you have one Onion for a load-balanced back-end of nodes and services. Using Tor in Cake just got a lot better, and is just a tap away 😎

Sep 14 2025 $XMR: $300 $QUBIC: $0.00002 Today: $XMR: $600 (up 100%) $QUBIC: $0.0000004 (down -98%)
Interesting to see Qubic community celebrating at the falling price of Monero $XMR and boasting at the potential takeover of its network via a 51% attack. The last time i saw something similar was when Zcash commumity were celebrating at Monero's delisting from exchanges, only for Monero to triple its price a year later. We'll see how long the Qubic community will continue laughing.

Your old phone can be a cold signer. Cupcake by @cakewallet turns a spare iPhone or Android into an air-gapped signer. Keys stay offline, Cake Wallet stays watch-only, and transactions move by QR code. Free and open source Cake Wallet founder @vikrantnyc talked about getting back to self-custody basics in S17 E41.
A new episode is here. The guest is a builder, uniter of tribes and vibe coder. It is none other than @vikrantnyc , founder of @cakewallet, @radarchat and @arbiterapp. This episode delves into Launching Radar, a fork of Signal with Bitcoin Lightning integration. Private messaging with a way to send money, definitely something we need. They discuss the origins of Arbiter Trading App, which rumour has it was fully "vibe coded" using AI on weekends. The episode as expected has thoughts on the Privacy tokens and how they are performing and what will come next. If you are about open source, self custody and making the world a better place... this is an episode for you. youtube.com/live/-b1rdop-7Oc…

More banks are selling Bitcoin in their apps now. But if you can't withdraw it to your own wallet, you don't really own Bitcoin. You own an IOU.
