They didn’t nerf Claude Code because it got worse. They nerfed it because they were bleeding cash 🩸👇
Let’s be honest about what’s happening.
Anthropic recently raised $10B. To secure that kind of money, you don’t just pitch a vision 🚀 you show a beautiful revenue curve and explosive user acquisition. And to get that curve? You unleash the best compute, the strongest capabilities, and you optimize for growth but not ROI per user.
For months, Claude Code felt insanely powerful. Generous compute. Serious depth. High-quality reasoning. But the economics behind it? Brutal. Massive infrastructure costs. Sky-high burn. Incredible product experience but terrible unit economics 😌.
Now the accountants are back in control.
The mandate changes:
Reduce burn.
Tighten compute.
Protect margins.
Extend runway.
And suddenly, performance ceilings appear.
This is not about model intelligence declining.
It’s about capital discipline.
Meanwhile, OpenAI is running a very similar playbook with OpenAI Codex.
They also need to refinance.
They also need to justify valuation.
They also need beautiful growth narratives.
So what do you do before a big financing round?
You open the taps.
You run ChatGPT 5.3 at full regime.
You maximize capability.
You capture churn from Claude and Google Gemini.
You show momentum.
Cash is burning.
Compute is flowing.
Benchmarks are rising.
The technology is still immature.
The business model is not yet at equilibrium.
And the competition has been ferocious, to our great benefit !!
But don’t confuse product experience with long-term economics.
Right now, strategy is being driven by fundraising cycles more than sustainable margins.
This is a capital war disguised as a model war.
And for us as users?
We should stay agile.
Move to whoever is deploying the most compute.
Exploit the window when providers overextend.
Ride the cycles.
Because until the business model stabilizes, power will oscillate.
And the real competition isn’t just intelligence.
It’s burn rate.
After migrating from Cursor to Claude Code... I think we'll see a migration from Claude Code to OpenAI's Codex, which has been delivering much better results recently, though its execution time is a bit long.😌
We thought the story was over, but no. 🙅♂️
Every week the models keep fighting each other. 🥷
Building the blog for my SaaS boilerplate and now comes the hardest part:
choosing the editor.
TipTap? Lexical? Slate? CKEditor? TinyMCE? Obsidian?
I want something modern, extensible, and not a nightmare to maintain 😅
What are you using in production and why?
