my favorite john carmack-ism is to see him reply to someone with a bet. i wonder how often someone is willing to stand by a statement enough to make one.

Care to bet on that? Think carefully — by Halloween 2028, a robot running an open source model will be able to autonomously go through that entire process? I’ll give you 2:1 odds against that happening.

now that agents can use web browsers, the next frontier is having access to your credentials. but, you don’t really want to hand over your passwords to all the agent companies - Instinct, Muse, whatever comes next. so, i built a thing that avoids that.

the next step is where my broker/automation use policies to notify me when my agent wants a particular login, allowing me to approve the request asynchronously and without giving blanket access. another improvement is a TTL that sweeps the cookies to force logout after a time.

my opinion: don’t give your usernames and passwords to Instinct. if you’re a 1password user and would like to try my solution, let me know! it’s somewhat hacky right now, and haven’t had time to clean it up to be usable outside of my own homelab.

my openclaw is pretty good so maybe i should be out there shopping around…
Wow... Instinct in talks to raise at a $10B val, @sequoia + @benchmark looking to lead (@theinformation) 100k+ users, free product, hitting capacity limits + heavy compute costs so they need $$$ Val trajectory: $100M → $500M → $2.5B → ~$10B in a few mos! W/ no revenue... 🤯 Longer term they want to buy their own chips + run their own data centers theinformation.com/articles/…

people are finding it easier to use the fn key and pedals than to reach for the microphone key on the keyboard. watches are similar to rings, but lifting your shoulder and pronating your wrist create fatigue compared to bending a supported elbow

i started playing around with @LeetCode. being a terminal junky, i wanted to do everything from the command line, so i found leetcode-cli. then, i got bored waiting for test submissions to run, so i created an offline environment: github.com/visigoth/leetcode…

the environment allows you to write and test your solution locally and then submit when you're ready. bonus if you have claude code: it will generate test cases for you from the problem description

this morning i asked ChatGPT a programming question i ask in interviews at facebook. it did better than most candidates.

i have done almost 500 interviews at facebook, and while i don’t ask this question every time, i’m well-calibrated on how candidates perform.

it unfortunately came up with tautological answers to those follow up questions. but, the code was correct which is more than i can say for most candidates!

once it did, the solution it gave was pretty good. it was functionally correct. it also landed on one side of a small design decision that is worth understanding (when to return an error or not). i asked it to justify the design.

it’s in C or C++ and about satisfying one contract given an implementation of a related contract. i’m being a bit obtuse for obvious reasons. it took three tries of prompt engineering for ChatGPT to understand the question correctly.
