We’ve raised $1.3M from YC & Afore Capital so you never have to type or speak again. Typing is slow. Talking into your computer is awkward. Subvocal fixes both Our glasses give you the speed of speech without you making a sound or touching a keyboard. It tracks your internal speech muscles with non-contact sensing and decodes silent, almost invisible mouthing into text at more than 200 words/min. Pre-orders are now live at: subvocal.co/preorder?utm_sou…

Vibe coder: prompt -> app release -> 0 revenue Software engineer: Rent vps -> prompt -> build their own software factory system before build the app -> write hundreds of markdown spec -> thinking of scalability from day 1 -> mocking vibe coder -> app release -> 0 revenue
If nobody reads code anymore, what separates a software engineer from a vibe coder?

Maestri's simplicity is making it the AI agent orchestrator of choice, far beyond developers. I keep hearing from students, researchers, and professionals in every field. So I'm starting the School of Maestria. Videos to help you master Maestri. Lesson one: Getting Started.

I am looking for my next career opportunity! I'm Corbin Crutchley; an engineering leader, consultant, author, and open-source maintainer. Previously as a VP of Eng, I've sped up engineering efforts for companies. My teams rework large-scale systems while building new features at the same time. You may also know of my OSS projects (@tan_stack & others) or my books (@playful_program). Roles I'm looking for: - CTO / VP of Engineering for small/medium companies - Staff+ Engineering roles, esp developer tooling - Consulting gigs Likewise, if your project is particularly challenging and / or complex, let's talk. Know of a good role for me? Book some time on my website or reach out in direct messages: corbincrutchley.com

I am done with this shit. It is over. The state of engineering right now is horrible. It has been half a month since I started a new role at a big company. Nobody knows anything here. The specs, code, tests, PRDs, tickets, resolution of those tickets, reports, etc., everything is made by Claude Code. Nobody on my team likes this. They are being forced to ship as much as they can. I have heard multiple times from higher management that pushing code is not a bottleneck, so why are we slow? People are working 12 to 13 hours a day just to press enter. Nobody is reading anything. Humans in corporate are doing nothing on their own. Everyone, literally everyone, from an L1 to an L7 engineer here is doing the same thing. Talk to Claude. There is no sense of victory. Nobody is resolving bugs. In reality, nobody is thinking anymore. Everything is done by LLMs. It is so soul-sucking. I would not mind it, to be honest, if we were at least given the time to check out the code and see what is going where. But no, the goal is to just ship. No matter what happens.

Que loucura é essa? Uma mulher aleatória, um idoso e o Flávio Bolsonaro fizeram uma jogada trabalhada que eu não vejo o Bahia fazer desde o campeonato baiano

Depth-aware light injection in TypeGPU I got a 448x448 monocular depth model down to ~8 ms on my M4 Pro across ~250 dispatches, which is fast enough to use in realtime :D Since the inference is written directly in TypeGPU, I can just feed the depth buffer straight into the lighting pass. It never has to leave the GPU or go through any extra synchronization/interop step Inference, lighting and draw all go through the same command encoder.

if you're not reading the code you have NO IDEA how much garbage is in your codebase frontier intelligence is still losing intervals & timers in useEffects, locking entire postgres tables, and adding random sleeps everywhere to get tests to pass if you aren't checking on it

i think we're forgetting that most people would rather pay premium for a streamlined solution rather than tinker... i have friends who are amazing devs & still pay HEAVY money to developers if you sell to wealthy people - the question isn't "can i do something myself", it's "is it worth my time" this "SaaS is dead" narrative is trending because indie hackers sell moatless products to other indie hackers and you know, indie hackers tend to play w/ AI & for the most part are not well off financially - perfect recipe for said issue to manifest
I cancelled and then vibecoded 100% of my SaaS subscriptions I only pay for domains, server hosting and storage and AI APIs So the irony of being replaced myself after I replaced everything I pay for is not lost on me I am happy I invested most of the money I made in the last 10+ years though so I have no worries financially But obviously preferrably I keep make more money with my projects but for that we will have to adapt or make entirely new type of projects Times of change are fun for me though, if there's no challenges life gets boring fast!

Please remember that the overwhelming majority of people that you hear talk online about the current state of programming are not building anything that: - is dealing with significant amounts of money - has non-trivial financial risks from production defects - is being collaborated on by even a single other person - has been and is being iterated on over a long time scale also remember that the overwhelming majority of takes online are: - not coming from a place of actually wanting to provide you with useful information - are at least in some capacity posturing. This industry is changing at a rapid pace and seeming ahead is of legitimate financial importance to individuals - bad

This is true, in a sense that ai workflows are useful, and human review is a bottleneck in code production. But it’s also true that uncle bob doesn’t have a significant production system he’s responsible for, and long term consequences of no eyes on code are still unknown.

I’m significantly older than you. I started coding in the late 60s. My current strategy is to not read any of the code written by my agents. That’s the only way I can take advantage of their productivity. What I do instead is to surround the agents with extreme constraints. Unit tests, gherkin tests, QA procedures, quality metrics, mutation testing, test coverage, and a plethora of others. In the end, I have very high confidence in the code they produce because they’ve had to run the gauntlet of all of my constraints and tests.

True, but since we have "backend engineers" shipping UI code now, we need better guardrails. We should focus on building systems that prevent mistakes rather than relying on individuals or agents to understand and catch these nuances.
