Is there a major elected or foreign dignitary visiting SD today? Five CHP patrol car and motorcycle escort heading up 5 North during rush hour traffic. Lights and sirens on so people would get out of the carpool lane.

What would it take to bring UFL spring football to San Diego? I thought the AAF Fleet did well in SD compared to other AAF teams. We’ve proven we’re a sports town. Curious what the @TheUFL franchise expansion fee is. “The UFL is accepting proposals from prospective markets looking to bring spring football to their communities and be a part of the growth of the sport. In its search to identify the strongest markets to support its ambitious growth goals, the UFL is looking at several core attributes when selecting its new cities, including fan interest and existing sports culture, geography and population and venue and infrastructure availability.” theufl.com/news/2024/novembe…

This is the classic progressive/conservative ideological map that would pop up in 1990-2010 San Diego mayoral matchups where we had a Democratic candidate and Republican candidate. Haven't seen this electoral divide in a while.

Compare the % vote for Kamala Harris to % vote for Lawson-Remer in these two maps - heavy overlap, though % vote Kamala by precinct is significantly more intense closer to the coast. Interesting there were Kamala/Faulconer voters concentrated in Carlsbad, Point Loma and Coronado, La Jolla as well.

Chatted this afternoon on the local election results & our changing electorate with my friend, SD political whiz @mason_herron, I asked him for 7 minutes and we talked for nearly 45. Someone needs to interview this man and give him an hour of podcast time soon!

Really interesting to see the large % of in-person GOP voting in the 49th Congressional District compared to the other competitive congressional races in California.
More on the competitive CA Congressionals. Here is a side-by-side comparison of the Mail/Drop Box returns, and the Vote Center Returns. Remember, more of the former are coming - about 40%. For each we have the totals. Then a reg rate, return rate, and difference (colored). 🧵
