Sexual assault is already severely underreported. The way the Obuasi case has been handled so far is troubling because it reinforces one of victims’ biggest fears about reporting sexual abuse: that nothing will be done. And it’s heartbreaking because other victims are watching and learning that speaking up may not lead to justice

I have been following the progress of our young Black Maidens at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, and it is encouraging to see them represent Ghana with such confidence and determination. Their performances continue to demonstrate the enormous potential of women’s football in our country.
Their impressive 2:0 victory over Canada in today’s group-stage encounter marks another important moment in their journey.
I encourage them to remain focused, united and confident in their abilities. Every stage offers a new opportunity to show the world what they can achieve.
Congratulations to the players, the technical team, and everyone who has brought them this far.

Pedophilia is so deeply ingrained in Ghanaian society that calling for the arrest of a man facing sexual assault allegations from 19 girls is seen as doing too much or being overly emotional. Because, apparently, at the end of the day, it’s no big deal. I hate it here.
