BOMBSHELL:
Ohio Democratic gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton’s own mother urges voters not to vote for her daughter.
“My name is Donna Arthur and I’m Amy Acton’s mother. I worked at Children and Family Service Association, building one of the first two sexual abuse programs in America.
I love my daughter, but when I saw her lying about her opponent—and it’s not easy for a mother to say this—but Amy has a serious problem.
She is a liar. She lies about her past. She says she grew up living in a tent. None of that is true. She’s lied her entire life.
My daughter needs help, and she can’t help you if she needs help herself. People can change, but first they have to tell the truth, and my daughter still isn’t doing that.
Don’t vote for people who lie. Don’t let her become your governor. If you think she’ll make your life better, you’re fooling yourself. It will only get worse.”
That’s one hell of an October surprise.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Acton's mother lost custody of her children after years of documented issues, including time spent living in a tent and a spouse who sexually abused her daughter Amy (Acton). Amy Acton's brother has also confirmed this story.

I said I'd publish everything I got from Mahoning County on the 1978 Acton case, whatever it showed.
I now have the first set of documents produced by the Clerk of Court in Mahoning County.
How I got it:
Wednesday, the Clerk of Courts refused to let me inspect the file. Written refusal, no statute cited, on video. Today, the same office released it "in response to numerous requests," after sending it to the county prosecutor for redactions. The cover letter still doesn't cite a single exemption for anything they blacked out.
What the record supports:
Cledith Arthur was arrested July 14, 1978, jailed, charged with rape of a child under 13, and pleaded not guilty. A Mahoning County grand jury indicted him Oct. 5, 1978. That's all in the file.
The complaint was sworn by her biological father, Gerald Stearns, on July 13, 1978.
Arthur had a prior: a 1974 arrest in Trumbull County, juvenile court case, released on bond.
He fled. The judge found on Oct. 26, 1978 that he "willfully vacated his last known address." Warrants issued in 1978 and 1981.
What the record does not support:
The tent. Both sworn charging documents put the abuse at 3625½ Mahoning Ave., Austintown, an apartment over a storefront, from December 1976 through April 1978. That covers the winter Acton says she spent in a tent at age 12. The campground on Route 7 appears in the file only as his address when he was arrested that July.
Nothing in the file puts the children at the campground, and nothing puts anyone in a tent.
The mother, Donna Arthur, being arrested. On WOSU Tuesday, Amy Acton said her mother was arrested in this case:
"She was arrested. He was arrested, and they were released on bond and crossed state lines."
Donna Arthur's name does not appear anywhere in the 38 pages. Not as a defendant, not as a witness. If she was charged it would be a separate case number, and I'll be requesting the clerk to search the 1978 index for it. As of today there is no record.
The "sworn statement."
National Review reported "a sworn statement from Acton's biological father." It's a one-page pre-printed complaint form with the statute typed in. No narrative. No description of anything.
"Fled to avoid testifying before a grand jury."
That's how the campaign's packet got written up. The file shows the opposite: he waived immunity and testified before the grand jury on Sept. 28, 1978, for 16 transcribed pages. He left after he was indicted anyway.
A 1987 warrant, as reported by the Dispatch. There isn't one. The last entry is 1983.
What nobody has reported:
The search for a man under indictment for raping a child consisted of three warrants mailed to one neighboring county's sheriff over five years. A deputy checked the campground once, in 1982. In June 1983 the sheriff returned it "Bad Address, Not Found." That's the last line.
HOWEVER––Thirteen years later, in 1996, Cledith Lee Arthur was arrested twice in Pennsylvania under his real name and real birthdate, fingerprinted, jailed, pleaded guilty, and put on state parole. No Ohio hold ever attached. He died in 2004 without Ohio ever coming for him. The campaign calls him a fugitive. The record shows nobody was looking.
What's missing from the file:
No appearance docket. No bond forfeiture, even though he skipped. No prosecutor's motion for the warrant the judge says he ruled on. No order recalling the 1978 warrant, even though it's marked "recalled." A second County Court case number on his waiver form, 10956, struck through and never explained. The victim's address, the complainant's address and signature, and the grand jury witness list are all blacked out with no legal authority cited. My attorney is demanding the unredacted file and all supporting documents.
The full file, along with the PA Docket file for Arthur, is provided below for anyone to view. When I receive the rest of the files I will provide them as well.
Pedro,
You seem to believe that your emotional outrage at my hardline, consistent, well documented, and publicly stated opinions is a negative for me.
Unlike you, who has flipped back and forth on your positions over the years, I have not.
My position that everyone knows, is that I give absolutely no quarter to my opponents—and never apologize.
That is my brand. That is who I am.
The wailing and gnashing of teeth from those who blow with the wind holds on bearing to me.
You act as if “society” will not accept this position.
“Society” has rewarded me for my authenticity with a social platform and website that has grown 4000% in two years.
You may not like me, but it is precisely because of your distaste of me that I have been successful.
The days of “outrage” ending careers ended years ago.
It’s not my fault that you still haven’t realized that.
Replying to @wcdispatch
Walter I think it's funny that you think you can just act like this and people will forget about it and treat you like a normal member of society instead of a repulsive, braindead goon
President Trump responds to Vivek’s Ad attacking Amy Acton.
He’s absolutely right. The only reason for this outrage is the Democrats attempting to get it taken off the TV circuit because they know it will be effective.
And DeWine? He’s absolutely hated by Republicans in Ohio.
No one cares what that garden gnome has to say.
Apparently, the entire left was completely unaware of Lindsay Graham (Aka. Lady G) being gay, and is just learning about it now.
That’s hysterical. Years behind.
Hey Democrats, wait till you learn why some called him Lady Bug. 🤣
This is the October surprise? That Lindsey Graham was gay? You’ve gotta be kidding me.
WE ALL KNEW THAT ALREADY
His nickname was Lady G

UPDATE:
Mahoning County Clerk of Court, Michael Ciccone, flees after refusing to allow inspection of 1978 Acton Records.
A lawsuit is already being filed, his office is aware.
They’ll try to delay the release till after the election.
All of this to try and solidify the response by the Acton campaign to the ad featuring her mother.
If she’s not a liar, and everything is above board, why are you hiding the records from the people?
Just be honest. It’s not hard.
Or maybe it is?
NEW: Mahoning County Officials are “uncomfortable releasing unredacted versions” of the 1978 case related to Acton.
After giving me the run around, and initially refusing to give me copies, we may be making progress.
I am waiting on an answer from the Clerk of Courts, Michael Ciccone, to approve a physical inspection of the unredacted records.
This conversation does CONFIRM that the records released yesterday to the media are indeed real records, not fake as I previously thought, though it ALSO confirms that they are incomplete.
More updates will follow.
UPDATE: The Mahoning County Clerk of Courts has now REFUSED even a physical inspection of the 1978 Acton records.
Even though required by Ohio law.
That’s alright, guess we’ll go the other route:
Effective upon receipt, we are bringing suit. There is no legal basis for refusing inspection of public records.
We’re not going away.
I just spoke with Mahoning County Clerk of Courts office.
These records are only available via microfilm.
More importantly––NONE of them have been released to the public yet. They are currently processing the documents.
Meaning, these are FAKE, and you, are a liar.
We have the court records. Amy Acton was telling the truth. Vivek's ad was vile and disgusting. I warned you not to get caught in the crossfire on this one.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The 1978 Mahoning County court documents are authentic public records. Mahoning County confirms pre-1989 court dockets are public records accessible via personal visits, and news outlets have reviewed and corroborated the 1978 case files: ecourts.mahoningcountyoh.gov/eservices/home… huffpost.com/entry/amy-acto…
I have now confirmed via Mahoning County officials directly that the records released yesterday to the media are not fake.
The documents are incomplete, but real.
I was wrong. @Anc_Aesthetics is not a liar, and issue I full retraction/correction of my statement stating so.
Brent, member of the CoC Mahoning County office confirms:
THEY RAN AWAY?!
I Just showed up at Mahoning County’s title department for an in-person records inspection under the statute — the records tied to the Acton case.
Clerk of Court bounced me:
“We don’t do microfilm anymore. Go to the title department.”
Walk in. Deputy tells me the woman who runs records left the building three or four minutes before I got there and said they’re closed the rest of the day.
If the case is locked tight and airtight… why are people running?
I’m not going anywhere.
If you think you’ll hide from me till the end of this election you’re going to lose that bet.
Just visited the Mahoning County Clerk of Courts.
The file for the 1978 case is indeed only microfilmed.
The first reaction when I requested the full file was:
“There needs to be redactions and I’m not releasing it today”
When I demanded legally binding in person inspection under R.C. 149.43, a manager appeared.
Telling me that the clerk of court does not handle the microfilm anymore, and directing me to a different office.
Headed there now.

Remember, the Democrats (and loser GOP) crying moral outrage about the Acton Ad are the same people who cheered when they went through Melania’s underwear drawer.
Spare me the crocodile tears.
Run it.
