Mixed feelings regarding our fixture.
- Happy to see us play in Canberra for the first time since early 2000’s
- Freo, Swans and Dees are double-ups are challenging
- Dreading the trips to Sydney, Brisbane AND Geelong 😬
- Primetime Sat nights 🔥
(Error with R1/3 dates oops)
Fremantle will HOST West Coast in the first derby in 2027 on a Friday night in Round 5 at 6:10pm (WST) as part of a double-header.
This will be the second game played that night, with a clash in Melbourne to start things off.
The full fixture is set to be announced as early as this week.
Here are a few things I’m hoping for:
- At least 1/2 games at the MCG
- No more Friday night double-header games
- To play the Dogs at Optus for the first time since 2022
- Avoid a trip to at least one of SYD, GEE
I’m hearing that we will open our season against the Gold Coast Suns AGAIN…
Not sure of the location or day, but it would be the fifth time since 2021 that it happens.
Fremantle open their season in Perth, wouldn’t be surprised if we are on the road again.
Since we’ve had Geelong twice, Sydney and Carlton, it felt about time that we played a team that we might be able to beat in Gather Round… even know we’ve lost our last 4 against them 😐)
Seems like we may only get one, maybe not any games at the G’ in 2027.
Would be worth a crack at trying to get one of Port’s early picks considering the draft beyond probably 15 becomes quite even and not as deep with talent.
Now this is commitment 💪
Great to see this group, particularly of our emerging young leaders looking to put the hard yards in before pre-season.
Merriam is already starting to turn heads at the club since crossing from the Dockers, liking his work so far.
A group of young @WestCoastEagles players are right now travelling to the United States for a gruelling week-long training camp.
H. Reid, Duursma, Ginbey, Hewett, Duff-Tytler, Lindsay, Allan among those heading to the UFC Performance Institute in Las Vegas.
Weights & running sessions, MMA training, and nutrition & sports science education all part of the program.
High Performance Manager Phil Merriman is travelling with the group.
Doesn’t faze me if we get him or not, but I’d still love to poach a quality small forward, now seemingly in the draft.
This is also the same person that said Gryan Miers will be an Eagle next year, so I’m sure it’s not entirely ruled out.
Rather than smashing the club for the trade made at the end of 2024, I commend the club for making the right decisions now and moving on.
Never the right fit unfortunately, hopefully the list spot open can allow us to match a bid and get Harper.
Matt Owies won't be at West Coast in 2027 despite having a year left on his contract.

Great get for the Beagles. Still has got some valuable footy left in him, and will provide a great sounding board for our younger players.
Could see him become a development coach soon after which would be real handy coming from a team like Geelong.
Jed Bews set to play for @WestCoastEagles WAFL side next season.
Former Cat brings 175 games of experience, including an AFL premiership.
The off-season AFL drama continues 😬
First and foremost I hope his friend is recovering well, but from what we’ve seen so far, it’s not a good look for Banners.
Even know he’s not on our team, it’s never great to hear stuff like this happen. Could’ve been a lot worse…
St Kilda AFL player Charlie Banfield accidentally ran over friend in car ift.tt/Pz9ig3N
Firmly agree with Pete here, under no circumstance should Mini be offered a new contract unless if we start next year in a promising position.
Losing the last 11 of 2026, and only winning 5 in his tenure so far, the club needs to put the pressure on him to respond.
Should the @westcoasteagles extend Andrew McQualter BEFORE the season starts? 🫨
Pete and Belly discussed... 👀

And this is what we could’ve ended up with if we didn’t trade for Kelly. Hasn’t even turned out to be as bad as what so many people make it out to be.

Pretty tough on J Will, but tough calls had to be made, because we are desperately short on list spots.
The writing on the wall was clear to see for Schoenberg and Hall, just never consistent AFL players.
All the best boys ❤️
I find it baffling firstly how a player taking drugs and a player drink driving get a suspension basically equal to Reid’s tackle on Newcombe.
I understand it’s seperate situations, but the AFL haven’t been ruthless in providing appropriate suspensions for dumb acts like this.
Carlton has suspended Wade Derksen for all pre-season games and the first three home and away games of 2027 after he was charged with drink driving in late September.

Good to see us holding our ground on Pick 23. Hopefully future picks can get it done instead, but sound like Dees are keen to get more for this draft.
"Jack Viney wants to be a West Coast Eagles player next year... pick 23 is the one I'm looking at."
Could Jack Viney and Trent Rivers make their way to the Eagles as a package deal?
