Yesterday, ECISD proudly hosted the Hispanic Heritage of Odessa’s Don Quixote Outstanding Hispanic Educator Awards. This event celebrated four amazing local educators who were nominated for the award. We were thrilled to see Pat Salcido, a retired ECISD teacher and current principal at St. Mary’s, honored as this year’s Don Quixote winner.
The evening included beautiful Folklorico performances and a special tribute to our recently retired Superintendent, Dr. Scott Muri, who received a unique artwork from HHO President Liliana Marquez.
The Don Quixote award recognizes Hispanic educators who inspire students to dream big through their creativity and dedication.
Congratulations to our 2024 nominees:
Pat Salcido, retired ECISD educator & St. Mary’s principal (winner)
Delila Herrera, Odessa High School Team Reach Teacher
Martha Imelda Burrola, Odessa High School Bilingual Teacher
Maria Bustillos, New Tech Odessa Spanish Teacher

If you pay attention, you will notice there are many who seem to make it their business to attack, smear and undermine others when they have an opportunity. We should avoid this behavior because it is not beneficial for either party. We make ourselves ‘healthier’ when we choose to encourage, enhance and elevate others! #TweetOC #PositivelyOC
