The a16z rebrand makes a lot of sense, has clearly been a long time coming, and isn't a negative indicator for the parts of crypto that have made sense for the past 4+ years.

It's probably not useful to look at volume without looking at fees paid.

Nous Research is a non-consensus, non-prestige organization that worked fully-remote and over Discord; Hermes is one of the most popular AI agents.
While im pretty sure im on the net happier here, my decision never to move to SF, and thus dramatically limiting my ability to work on frontier Ai, is driving me slightly insane

I tried Venice for the first time in a long time, amazing product on the LLM side.

There's a growing "twitter company" maybe the greatest archetype was Cluely, but there have been many before.

It's hard to argue this doesn't at the very least make you more legible to capital. Is potential brand damage harmful enough to kill the visibility?

Monolithic culture is dead -- visibility-maxxing by hiring young 20-somethings with a large twitter following is a good way to media blitz the closest thing we have to a town square -- maybe previously you could spam prestige media with ads, nowadays doesn't full cover.

Tried explaining to my landlord that he's just a wrapper around construction costs, capital costs, and maintenance and he just doubled my rent? I explained he can't charge above market prices because he's "commoditized" and "going to be competed to zero". I have 7 days to move out. This wasn't supposed to go like this.

Really remarkable how many dark patterns Coinbase has. I had some money leftover in my account… getting it out is a labyrinth, and the default option to withdraw it has a $1,000 fee! I tried it on Robinhood... default withdraw has no fee, instant option is $150

There's a broader epidemic of 'disrespect of the user' that exists beyond AI use and has slowly invaded into pretty much every single product. It's most visible in AI, because it will literally say it refuses to do something -- but once you notice it, it's literally everywhere.
Dot refused to apply my signature to a sales agreement, even with repeat explicit requests to do so Bot did it immediately Paternal bullshit is becoming the main reason I switch products these days

Every single product with a support system that railroads you into a limited dialogue tree. Every single product that has dynamic pricing based on customer models. Every single product that obfuscates its pricing or cancellation.

Just use your passkey. It’s in your authenticator app. Swipe into the password management app. The hardware signer has it. You’ll have to enable 2FA. Sign in with your email and your mother’s DNA profile. Connect your phone and your dad’s college car to unlock.
I don't know how passkeys work and at this point afraid to ask.

Prediction markets saying "NYC residents are up" on prediction market bets is like casinos saying "Vegas residents are up" on casinos. I would hope so?
