This will be the year I switch from software development to self-employed Game Dev. I'm documenting my journey over on Medium: medium.com/@willdwebster, with some other writings (game reviews, random musings etc.) Clap, comment or just await my success/failure! ;D

NEW @Telegraph understands Nigel Farage did not display a valid date stamp on his prayer card and it was removed as per Chamber protocol. I also understand Mr Farage did not attend prayers and did not approach Commons staff regarding a seat reservation. telegraph.co.uk/politics/202…

The truth is, I haven't got it all figured out. I struggle all the time. But... I try my best, and I keep going, I keep learning and I keep improving. If you're in a dark place right now, please don't give up on yourself. You are somebody to someone, somewhere ❤️

Tim Sweeney getting upset at Steam's AI disclosure is an endless stream of funny content. He claims it's bad for developers, but what he actually means is it's bad for Epic Games. Because Epic are literally building UE6 around generative AI, which they say will play a "central role" If generative AI is good, and developers are proud to use it, there shouldn't be an issue disclosing it. But the problem is gamers don't agree, and some actively avoid games using AI. This in turn will mean avoiding UE6 games using their fancy gen AI integrations, which hurts Epic's business model. It's another one of those things where companies are not on the same page as gamers. Gamers want engine developers to solve problems they are having (eg poor performance, traversal stutter, visual artefacts). They don't want those problems to remain unsolved while Epic makes it easier to fill storefronts with low quality AI-made games. Transparency is always good for consumers and shouldn't be sacrificed. Ever. Why hide the use of a feature if you think the feature is good? If it's a "hate mob" issue, maybe time to reassess the messaging. Prove that AI use is good, instead of hiding it. Because if it's actually good, it should be easy to explain and show why. The work speaks for itself with these things. If Epic are ever wondering why gamers love Steam and avoided the Epic Games Store for so long, it's because Valve continue to deliver what gamers want. Being hostile to gamers doesn't work.

Achievement unlocked: make someone's top list of games from #SteamNextFest As a first time #gamedev getting noticed by anyone is a huge deal but making their top 7 is an honour. Many thanks to @ImLiveOnTwitch for playing and reviewing these games and supporting #indiegame dev!
You guys have been amazing the past several days. I have played, tested and reviewed roughly 50 of your games that you have offered up. There were ups and downs, highs and lows, but I did say that I was going to put out a list of my top 7 games. So here they are. @Craftlord_Dark 1: Barkour by @BARKOUR__GAME 2: Arcane Dash by @ArcaneDashGame 3: #sigh Nutshot Simulator by @DanielXMoore 4: Stop the Escape by @21vslogs 5: Idle Mining Manager by @willdwebster1 6: Arx Temporis by @KenzoGames3 7: The Veil of Time by @playforge_games

Idle Mining Manager by @willdwebster1 It's exactly what it says it is. An idle mining manager. That's it. That's the whole game. That being said, I fleshed out the entire demo. Unlocked every upgrade. I wanted to keep going. I don't know why. I was just upgrading while watching YouTube. It was basically the quintessential "Number go up, brain happy" game. I'm probably gonna play it when it drops. Something about idle games while doing other things keeps the brain buzzing. GG. Only feedback: - Impact splitter final upgrade says you need 18 to unlock, actually need 21

PLEASE!!! I can only play and write so quickly and I'm worried a bunch of demos will disappear before I get around to them!!
Indiedevs, please keep your demos up long after Steam Next Fest! The event easily has a tail of 2 weeks where creators (and players) will still be checking their downloaded demos.

Mass Effect is alive. We know we're all mourning, but Mass Effect isn't dead. That's not how art works. It will live on as long as people cherish it, talk about it, and share it with others. Mass Effect is art, and art is eternal. Use #MassEffectIsAlive and share your love!

After digging through a #steamNextFest full of low-effort releases, I’m looking for games Made With Care. AI-assisted is fine: AI assets you’ve curated and polished are welcome. Games thrown together in a weekend aren’t. Drop your link + one line about your game below 👇 #indiegames #indiedev

Ok so it's #WishlistWednesday and we are right in the heart of #NextFest. If any #indiedev wants a brutally honest review on their project, hit me up. Full games, demos, whatever. Don't expect a sugar coated swansong if your game is shit. I will tell you that. I will also tell you that it's beautiful and magnificent if it is such. If you have something in a playable state, I'm down to test it, play it, review it and provide feedback for it. If you are sensitive to negative feedback, send it to someone else. If you want honest, actionable feedback, send it over. I don't care if it's a 20m demo or a 10 hour demo (I'm looking at you @DarkyneDev), I got you.
