Washington warned that the spirit of party is popular government's "worst enemy." His warning wasn't aimed at one side. It was about a habit: putting loyalty to a side ahead of loyalty to the country.
Our Constitution never names a party. It trusts free citizens to choose people.
So before you vote, set the label down. Look at the person: their character, their morals, their values. Ask whether they would guard your freedom even when their own side wanted otherwise.
That is how a free people keeps the republic it was given.

Before there was any government, there was freedom. It was ours by nature. Liberty came after, when free people agreed to give up a small measure of that freedom so they could live together as a community. That trade was meant to be small, deliberate, and rare.
I think of liberty as a tree that should grow very slowly. Each new branch reaches a little further into the space where freedom used to live. Some branches are worth it. But every one should be grown with the greatest apprehension, because once grown, they're almost never cut back.
The people who wrote our Constitution knew this in their bones. They didn't write a list of what we're allowed to do. They wrote a short list of what government is allowed to do, and left everything else with us. Their aim was never more government. It was the most freedom a people could keep while still living in liberty together.
So here's a question worth sitting with: how many branches have grown since then, and how many of us ever agreed to them?

๐ฅ The 10th Amendment wasnโt an afterthought. It saved the Constitution.
Anti-Federalists demanded the rule: power not delegated is power denied.
Massachusetts drew the line. Virginia and New York followed.
No 10th? No ratification.๐

A wealthier person would have put their home in a trust, thus securing it from such liens, which of course just leaves the less-well-off and less sophisticated to be subject to such treatment.
My coworker's mother passed away last November.
She left her modest $190,000 house to him clear and free, no mortgage, completely paid off after thirty years of factory work.
He moved into the home in January to finally settle the estate.
Two weeks ago, a letter arrived from the state Medicaid estate recovery office.
Because his mother spent four months in a rehabilitation facility before she passed, the state quietly slapped a retroactive $114,000 lien against the property title.
He called the state health department, frantic, asking how a hospital stay could bankrupt an inherited home that had no mortgage balance.
The caseworker sighed and told him:
"Federal law requires state programs to claw back healthcare costs from deceased estates. The house cannot be sold or transferred until the balance is cleared in full."
He offered to pay a monthly settlement.
They said no. The full $114,000 is due in 60 days, or they foreclose on the property at a public auction.
A lifetime of working-class savings, wiped out overnight by a retroactive healthcare lien.
You don't own generational wealth.
You're just holding a property title until the state finds a legal mechanism to repossess it the moment you die.

There is much that can be said here - I am thankful the VP is willing to hear this citizen out. I hope we hear back from him post meeting with Vance.

Hi, my name is Steve Augustyn, and I am one of the owners of Silver Moon. I have three young boys who have all attended Silver Rail, and our youngest is in 4th grade at Silver Rail now. The school and the community have been a part of our lives for many years.
Some of you know me, and some of you may not. If you do know me, you know how much I love and care about this community and the well-being of people from all walks of life. I have always done my best to make sure Silver Moon is a place where everyone feels welcome.
Pubs were created to be gathering places for communities, and that is exactly what I hope we can be. A place where people can come together, support one another, and talk about what theyโre feeling, whether itโs good, bad, sad, angry, happy, or anything in between.
This Wednesday, October 21st, I would like to invite you all to the pub to do just that.
100% of all sales and donations, not just the profit, but every dollar spent, will be donated to the families ( or a charity of their choosing) who have experienced loss from this tragedy.
I am doing this intentionally so there is no confusion about my motives. This is not about notoriety, publicity, or financial gain. Iโm doing this for myself, for Silver Rail, and for a community that desperately needs a place to come together and support one another.
With love,
Steve & Marissa Augustyn

My goodness, these people are insane.
The @Oregonian is suggesting Oregonโs gun laws arenโt strict enough because they failed to prevent the Bend, Oregon shooting.
Think about it. If the gun-free zone had been adhered to, the bad guy could have killed even more people.
Gun laws restrict law-abiding citizensโ ability to defend themselves. Criminals donโt follow the law. Plain and simple.
Absolutely shameful.

๐บ๐ธ๐ฎ๐ฑ Trump just endorsed Netanyahu for Israeli PM knowing FULL WELL itโs political suicide for every Republican on the ballot.
Joe Kent, fmr. Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, had one question:
โWhy is he making these decisions? Thatโs one of the biggest questions of our time.โ
The Israel lobby has that much control over an American president. Kent broke down exactly how we got here.
The Iraq War created the migrant crisis now burning French cities. The Iran war is doing the same thing.
And the GOP Senate majority just went from 72% likely to 35% since it started.
We bomb their countries. Then we invite them to ours.
Kent calls it โfight them and invite themโ and itโs the most honest summary of U.S. foreign policy in decades.

This may be the most "CNN" thing ever said on CNN.
This is Clarissa Ward, CNN's international correspondent. She fabricates stories for the fake news outlet.
A few years ago she said this about the Taliban:
"They were just chanting death to America, but they seem friendly at the same time."
