WINTERNITZ Development Update
We’ve added new tools for managing tokens, reviewing transactions, and keeping track of wallet backups across the web wallet and Chrome extension.
• ERC-20 import: Review the contract, network, and decimals before adding a token. Imported assets stay clearly labelled Unverified.
• Transfer review: Exact amounts and full token contract visibility.
• Receipt inspection: Check execution outcomes, block details, and operation gas.
• Backup tools: Inspect encrypted archives without replacing your wallet, and see when known local signing history differs from your last tracked export.
• Dashboard updates: Journey checklist, pending operation details, and public status reports.
Latest local validation: 586 tests and 9 browser checks passed, alongside typechecks and the production build.
This beta supports Robinhood Testnet, chain 46630, with test funds only.

One wallet address. A fresh signing key for each operation.
In a standard Ethereum EOA wallet, one private key signs many transactions. Each new transaction has a different signature, while the underlying key remains the same.
WINTERNITZ uses Winternitz One Time Signatures (WOTS). Each signing key is reserved for one operation message, and the account advances to the next key when onchain validation commits.
Your wallet address stays the same. The keys are derived from the same root seed, so you don’t need a new recovery phrase for every operation.
This also changes how retries work: a pending operation is resent with its original signed bytes, preserving the one time key rule.
That key lifecycle is central to WINTERNITZ’s approach to hash-based account authorization.
WINTERNITZ is making transaction outcomes easier to verify.
Our latest local testnet beta build adds Inspect Receipt to the web wallet and Chrome extension. Users can check whether execution succeeded, reverted, or remains unverified alongside operation gas costs, block details, and the UserOperation hash.
This builds on the wallet journey checklist, pending-operation tracking, encrypted backup inspection, and status reports that exclude seeds and passwords.
Latest validation: 547 tests passed, 8 browser checks passed, and a successful production build. Browser checks used isolated wallets and mocked network responses.
Next up: backup freshness reminders after signing, followed by further testnet validation of ETH/ERC-20 transfers and interrupted transaction flows.
The update is implemented locally and has not been deployed. Test funds only; backup imports remain read-only. Independent audit and safe lost-device signing recovery remain open milestones.
Building WINTERNITZ with visible progress and evidence behind each update.
The hardest part is balancing strong post-quantum security with a seamless mobile experience. Winternitz introduces unique challenges around signature sizes, efficient transaction handling, and securely managing one time key state without compromising usability.
Our goal is to make all of that feel invisible to the user. People shouldn't need to understand the complexity of post-quantum cryptography to benefit from it. They should just have a wallet that feels fast, intuitive, and secure enough for everyday use. That's what we're focused on solving.

Winternitz Building for a Post Quantum Future.
Winternitz Vault from independent keys to onchain execution.
Each vault uses its own WOTS keys, encrypted local storage, and a dedicated signing journal. Transactions are reviewed, signed, and saved before submission. Onchain validation advances the account’s key state, while confirmation checks the actual transaction outcome.
Quantum Computer Matters.
Recent security incidents across the crypto industry have reminded us of one thing: digital asset security cannot be taken for granted.
Today's exploits are not necessarily quantum-related. But they expose a broader reality: security threats continue to evolve, and our infrastructure must evolve with them.
Quantum computing introduces another long-term challenge to the cryptographic foundations of blockchain technology.
At Winternitz, we're exploring hash-based signatures, post-quantum authentication, and secure key rotation to help build a practical path towards quantum readiness.
We're not waiting for quantum threats to become a reality before exploring solutions.
Security is not just about protecting what we have today. It's about preparing for what comes next.
The future of wallet security starts with the work we do today.
